Ever accidentally hook a bass?

I was out today at my local pond in Northern NJ and was 4 bass in using a chatterbait, I switched over to my whacky weedless setup and was pitching into some Bushes near the water line, worked it through the water until it was ready to be reeled in and repeated, 30 minutes passed and I decided to switch up things so while I was reeling my slack line I did a fake hookset out of curiosity and man next thing I knew a little dink was jumping out the water and my line was being pulled, I thought to myself? Did I really just hookset a bass that wasn't even interested in my senko? Wow hahahahaha 

 

You gotta love fishing at times! 

 

Ps I had to resize the image because it was over a few MBs on my phone. The fish had a perfect hookset too! Hahahaha

i had my hand slip off the line once and i made a cast behind me instead of in front and ended up catching a bass.  When i used to teach fly fishing it was pretty common to have people catch bass on their back cast if they let it hit the water behind them.

I really don't understand the wording of the OP or the picture attached... You hooked the bass on the inner lip so it was indeed interested.

I recently tied on a new bait and let it hang over the side of the boat while rigging another rod. One hit the bait hanging over the side. I’ve also gotten bit when speed retrieving a worm after giving up on the cast.

When fishing by myself I have seen many a fish caught after digging out backlashes - not from me though, I never backlash.

 

Once I caught a muskie on a lure dangling over the edge of out johnboat and just touching the water while throwing bucktails.  It.must have followed in and whacked it. Luckily my friend had quick hands.

Now you know what a nothing strike feels like. The bass obviously was swimming towards you with the Senko in it's mouth and you made the intuitive hook set.

Yeah but I didn't feel anything on my line, usually I feel a thump with senkos. 

 

That's what made it surprising to me.

Had this happened once, was fishing a lake with a buddy of mine and left my frog in the water while we were using the trolling motor at top speed, next thing I knew My rod was halfway in the water hahahaha.

I've recently had some of my best action with Fat Ikas when I thought I finished a cast and sped up to throw again. I had a 5 lbr. crush it at rods length just before I picked it up. To quote Sheriff Buford T. Justice; "Now that's what we call an attention getter".

I blew up a reel trying to skip up under docks.  Trying to dig out the back lash, I felt the line go tight and the rod jerked.  I had to hand reel in a fish.

Yes, numerous times with smallies on jerk baits. Felt like I had a monster on.

Seems like the fish had eaten your bait and was swimming towards you.

I caught one in the side probably 30 years ago. Caught on a Shad Rap not too long after Rapala first came out with them.

Last year, I chucked out a squarebill into the shallows near a spot where I knew some rocks were... soon as it hit the water I saw a splash and my lined jumped, so I set it. It felt really weird reeling it in, but once I had it I saw why- I had hooked a pounder in the back just below the fin. Took a bit of surgery to get the hook out too cause it passed through a meaty little spot. Weird fish catch, and was one of a few that I caught that day... though I consider that more of an accidental foul hook than an actual catch. But caught on the cast? That has to be worth something right?
