Daiwa spinning reels for Ned rig.

Looking for a Daiwa spinning reel to pair with my Duckett Micro Magic Pro 7' ML/F.

Kinda looking at the Daiwa Legalis LT or the Daiwa Fuego LT. I did also take a look at the Pflueger President XT and the President Supreme.Open to suggestions. Like to keep it under $100. Thanks.

the pflueger supreme is a fantastic reel right at the $100 price point. i have 2500 and 3000 sizes that are absolute work horses. i can't vouch for the legalis of or the fuego, though i have heard good things about both.

I believe Ned uses a vintage Cardinal 4 reel so Daiwa TD SS 1300 would be more appropriate.

I picked up a couple of Daiwa crossfire 2500s on Ebay for $25. I've been very impressed so far.

They're all solid reels. I have the president XT and it's awesome though.

I just purchased a Daiwa BG 2000 and have no complaints. It's more of a saltwater reel but with that comes more robust construction i.e. it will hold up longer. The only other spinning reel I have to compare it is a 5000 size Shimano Saragosa for heavier inshore and offshore fishing and its just as smooth. The drag is also waterproof so it can survive some accidents. I think I got mine for $110 so a bit above your price range but I can recommend it.

Any of the LT's top to bottom would be perfect. I have two Fuego LT's and they're great.

I use a Daiwa BG in 2000 size. The 1500 should be fine as well, but I like the slightly wider spool of the 2000, doesn't lose line loops at all.

Fuego LT is a great reel. Smooth with a very smooth drag. Pfleuger supreme in the 30 size too. Also pretty sweet.

I've got a couple 2000 Revros that I use on guide trips for Neds and other light stuff and use them myself at times as well. They're excellent little reels.

There is a Daiwa BG 2000 new in box in the flea market forum. Not sure if that's what I really want or not.

I own 2 Pfluegers (one President and one President XT).  I own one Fuego LT and one KastKing Sharky.  I will not buy any more Pfluegers.  I liked them when I got them and thought they were smooth and dependable.  The KastKing is better than either of the Pfluegers.  The Fuego LT is significantly better than either of the Pfluegers.

I bought a Legalis for my new Dobyns Colt rod and fished it quite a bit over the weekend, the drag is really smooth and it is very light weight to me.  Pulled in a couple nice sized largemouth on the Ned rig with it.  Very happy with the purchase for sure, if I fished with spinning rods more often I would definitely buy another without question.

Daiwa BG's are heavier than the other Daiwa LT style counterparts. The BG's are salt water resistant, so they're kind of overkill for fishing a small stick bait...although I was killing it this weekend on white perch using a pink TRD in brackish water.

 

Fuego, Legalis, Exceler...basically any of the Daiwa LT reels in your budget will be more than fine. Step up to the BG if you want some salt resistance, but expect about a 1.5oz heavier reel.

I've got both the Legalis and Fuego LT reels in 2500 size, both have performed very well. I really don't think you can go wrong with either, though the Fuego does feature magseal.

I've been using one for the past couple weeks and like it a lot more than my President. Very light and smooth. I got the HX which has a faster retrieve.

I like the Fuego's and the BG's but for the $$ I've been LOVING the Legalis.  I've caught numerous 4+ lb fish on neds and neko rigs on the two Legalis reels I own.  The drag is one of the smoothest I've had and converted me away from my Pfluegers.  Been nothing but happy with them.  However you won't go wrong with any of the 3.

Looks like the best Daiwa reel for the price has been discontinued. RG-AB 10 bearing air rotor air bail for $60 excellent reel. A few places still have them.
