Most insane day of topwater ever! 5 fish of 26.88lbs. I probabaly caught 10 bass and a big fish of 7.2lbr before my buddy put down the frog. Well over 50 bass from 9am-7pm once we figured out the pattern. We were hitting 3 and 4 bass in a row at times. Once my buddy casts up to a grass patch a 5+ smokes his bait he misses it he casts back and hits a 4.5. Put it in the well he casts again bam 3lbr. I turn around cast back to the patch he caught and missed one and i hit a 5lbr. We got in one spot where we were video chatting another fisherman and i hit 3 in a row. Then a pleasure boater back in the cove see us slaying and they move up and enjoy the show and watch us put 20 bass in the boat lol. It was pure insanity.

I love it!  It's those days that carry people for a season...and really forever.  I gotta get out there more to put some of those insane days in my memory banks.  And you got some video and nice pics for the archives and to share.

All that and no topwater, couldn't ask for much better.

Awesome angling man, I wish we had more slabs like that in Michigan. I tend to bass fish more frequently, but I go targeting pike and Muskie multiple times a year for my big fish fix haha. I mean heck in Michigan anything above 5-6 is a hog.

Keep in mind our state record is around 11 pounds and it’s an old record before the area was developed I believe

While i do agree fish over 6 are big in Michigan. I would much rather livw there. Its where im from. 11,000 inland lakes. I dont have to drive 3 hrs one way to fish. Also our smallie fishing is out of this world while we catch 5 and 6lb smallies like its going out of style. The states with big largies.. ppl come to Mi to catch those big smallies. Ive caught quite a few 23-24lb bags in Michigan (smallie and largie) and quite a few over 6lbs. Just gotta go where ppl dont expect fish to be. I have found some crazy smallie waters that literally noone fishes and ppl just drive by on the way to the st clairs, and mullets etc. If you can find those you would be surprised whats in our waters.

Your dead right on the areas no one thinks fish are! We live In Michigan if there’s water 9/10 times there’s something to catch. I fish the Clinton river for pike all summer! They are easy as hell to find and you occasionally find big ones trapped above the dam by Yates! Smallmouth are in there too, but I don’t feel comfortable posting where. If you want info message me haha. I just don’t want randoms in my spot, but if your a bass resource member your a friend in my book haha

are you still in the area i noticed you said from there! I’m in the metro Detroit area north of 59 near 53 haha.

I am not currently. Been active duty the past 12 years. So been all over currently stationed in arizona. Originally from gladwin spent most of time fishing lakes all over central Michigan all the way to the bridge. I know alot of unknown smallie waters and largies. Little baby lakes with huge smallmouth gotta love it. I try to come home once a yeat for a few weeks to a month. Probably only can do 1 week this year ???

Well first off thank you for your service. My uncle was a Vietnam veteran and he taught me how to fish, I have unreal respect for our armed forces! Without him I wouldn’t even be fishing, ever since he took me deep sea fishing in San Diego at like 13 it changed my life!

and I know exactly what you mean, I drive around with my poles on me half the time, because I know I’m passing a pond or mini lake, and I just end up hammering a couple big bass usually quickly considering some people don’t try these lakes the fish just go nuts for lures! Get a quick fishing fix!

if your ever in my parts I’d gladly take you to some of my spots! If you have any recommendations your willing to share in southeastern Michigan I am all ears haha! I will tell you I have spots I found in major fisheries I could probably win a tournament on and catch my bag within 2 hours haha

I am in the process of trying to move up from ACHA hockey to NCAA hockey as an official and hopefully to the NHL at some point if I’m lucky, so I don’t really have time to spend doing crazy tournaments. You’d think summer time I’d get a break, but I have to do a ton of high level men’s league games to make ends meet! Skating 20-30 hours a week takes its toll on your body haha. Plus, I’m still finishing my degree at the ripe age of 28 haha! So fishing is often hard to find time for, but I make sure to hit the water at least once a week, sometimes 4-5 if I have days off or my schedule is more local!
