Your gonna love it. I have a 2015 xlt and it's been the best vehicle I've ever owned. I traded a silverado, nightmare vehicle. I think I bought it twice. My f150, 64,000 miles and nothing but maintenance. I'll probably get 70,000+ miles out of first tires and brakes too. That may seem normal for some but It's amazing compared to what I'm used to. Which engine did you get?

 

That being said... I'm fixed on the lake. I don't haul the boat anyplace else. Just me and 'my' lake.

I have a murdered out 2019 Tundra with the SX package. Extended cab with the long 6.5 foot bed. Fits my 7 foot 4 rods in the cab or in the bed diagonally. Toyota for life!!

I'm having trouble loving much of the newer stuff. The Jeep Grand Cherokee post-WJ has independent suspension. I wanted a live front axle, so that meant the newest GC I could get was a 2004. Additionally, I want a lever to control the transfer case and transmission.

 

It's bad enough that the WJ wasn't offered stateside with a manual tranny ?

 

My parents just bought a 2019 Blazer. That thing is pretty awesome from a mechanical point of view, and it's not as flimsy as some of the other modern vehicles I've seen. Too many push-button controls, though, and the engine is sideways. Still, it looks to be good for its intended target customer.

 

I digress.

They don’t make anything like they used to, my truck is manual transmission locks and windows with a single cab, had to look around for it but Carmax is a wonderful thing. If  it’s not a stick shift I won’t own it, and don’t EVEN get me started on a push button ignition. It must be so hard to turn a key.......

Took forever to get used to the "push button" ignition, but while not sure of other brands, Mopar gives the option to pop that button off and use an old fashioned key! ?

I used to pretty much mirror these thoughts.  Now that Ive gotten used to modern technology I must admit I doubt I'll ever own another standard shift vehicle.  Yes it's more to tear up but I figure it's a small price to pay for comfort.  Each to their own. I do agree on the push button ignition tho not a fan of it at all

If you think that’s bad, how about new vehicles that turn off the engine when you stop at a light, then start up automatically when you take your foot off the brake. As a guy who used to own cars that had a hard time starting under any circumstance, this takes a little while to get used to. 

On the other hand, the back up cameras that zoom on on your trailer hitch and help you hook up perfectly every time without having to get out and look is just the best thing ever.

I have to use the push button ignition at work and in my moms car. The common denominator is nobody EVER knows where the keys are, when they should be hanging in the ignition. Or the time I dropped mom off in front of a grocery store and she walked in with the “key fob” in her purse. The car began to panic and I had to sit in the parking lot with it running (and panicking). All because turning a key is so hard. Also, what happens when you are fishing in a downpour or wade fishing and the “key fob” is soaking wet?

I certainly agree. My wife's car has this and yes she's walked in to stores a cple times with keys in her purse while I'm left in the car with it freaking out. Definitely doesn't seem like a well thought out system at all. My truck has all the new stuff minus the push button start.  I won't say I wouldn't buy a vehicle with it but I definitely don't want it.
