They do stupid stuff, are competent anglers at best, and aren't my cup of tea, but they have found a niche in the industry. I'm sure there is a lot of work that goes on behind the scenes. More power to them. In this world of Kardashians, and other like minded reality social media "stars" views Trump content, ethics, and civility, so why not. You don't like it? Change the channel, problem solved.

I watched some of them individually (LFG, JonB & Flair), but tired of them quickly once they started teaming up and became more interested in their own celebrity than in interesting/useful content. Lunkers and AP have always rubbed me the wrong way.

To be fair though, the Googans aren't the only youtube channels I've become tired of.  Flukemaster and Chad Hoover can't seem to stay on topic any more.  I still find 1Rod entertaining but a little bit of him goes a long way.

These days I subscribe to Glenn's channel, KeeipinItReel (he hasn't posted much recently), NDYakAngler, Fish Code Studios, and The Nature of Fishing (Paul Roberts' channel!)

Check out Fish the Moment.  It's well worth the time.

I second the motion. The entertainment value is near zero.(which is a plus for me) The information value is at the top!  Jonny is a very respectful and intelligent young man. His videos are very informative and are professionally done. I'm sure I'm 20+ years older than him yet I have learned things from watching his channel. Well worth the effort.

I didn't mind Jon B's earlier videos when they were separate individuals. Now that they are a group, it's just painful to watch. Some of their stunts are just plain dangerous. Considering their target audience, it's scary that they may have influence over the younger generation. Much better channels to watch for knowledge and Entertainment than the Googans.

Bass Resource

Debo

Online outdoorsman

And many others offer far more quality content.

Most of their videos now are about doing stupid things. I don't have a problem with rednecks at all, but they take that stuff to the extreme. Shooting and blowing stuff up in the most obnoxious "Murica" way possible to show how patriotic and b@d@ss they are. It makes a fool of them and the people they pretend to represent and creates dangerous situations. It's like they've become the fishing version of the TV show Jackass, except they barely fish anymore; it's just videos of stupid stunts, pushing their products, and flaunting their money. Then they throw the random fishing video in there fishing their cheap Favorite rods with $500 Shimano reels to fool kids into buying (or their parents buying) them.

Postscript: @Bluebasser86, you're really in a Googan video? (no pun intended)

I really was, click on the video I posted above, I linked it just before I'm in the video so you don't have to suffer through the rest for the 20 seconds I'm in it.

The dislike i used to have for them was rooted in my own jealousy. Especially when they came to my home lake and turned the place into a mad house all summer long. Its turned into a sort of admiration. More power to those guys. (Not an avid follower or even subscriber. Just a fellow fisherman)

I do not mind that they exist, or that they have had success filling some apparent pent-up demand within the industry for Fishing-Related Stupid Stuff.

But the last thing they need is "more power".

So more light line finesse fishing videos and Googan® drop shot baits? :)

Do they even know the origin of the word?

The baits are a missed opportunity, really.

I kind of wanted to see actual Googan-shaped plastics. Little plastic googans in a bag. Like a pack of actual little plastic LunkersTVs; they could have little American Flag impressions on the back. Or an oversized 14" Flair worm with Flair's head, making his characteristic all-purpose open-mouth facial expression on the front end.

Not sure how well they'd fish, but they would be a lot of fun to rig....

I don't care for any of them except for LFG. He seems like a great guy and his videos can be pretty entertaining. He used to do more instructional videos before going to a vlog format but I still like to watch him. The rest are idiots, plain and simple.

I don't get why some people complain about the price of googan baits, but will willingly fork over 2 dollars more for senkos.

Both are over priced, but then again I'm on a yum dinger budget.

Because Senkos are proven to be one of the best bass baits of all time and none of the knock offs perform on the same level as a Senko.

I like Googan plastics but nothing they did is ground breaking and they're easily replaceable by better.

I'm turning into a grumpy old man at the age of 28. But It reminds me of the direction of country music. I don't like bro country and I don't like bro fishing.

I see some people say its good for the sport. Getting younger people interested in fishing. However, bigger is not always better. I've noticed multiple concerning things on the water out of younger anglers just in the last few month. Whether it's someone blasting through a no wake zone or jumping next to you on a spot. And, I'm sure most of them have a gopro strapped to them or their boat waiting for an altercation to post on youtube.

Obviously, I have no idea if the young anglers I saw even know whoo the bro squad is. But, there sure are a lot of days that it seems like respect and common sense seems to be left at the ramp. And, it makes you wonder what impact things like youtube might have on people.

And they are success again to have all of you talking about them. MORE POWER TO THEM WEATHER YOU LIKE IT OR NOT. And no I’m not tired of them since I don’t watch them that much.

Flawed logic because I think people who would be on the fence about their products, either members or lurkers, would avoid them now with such a strong consensus.

Here's another vote for Fish The Moment, that young man does an amazing job. I have learned an incredible amount about offshore bass fishing from his channel. I'm not a fan at all of the Googan group.

I have a now 9 year old son who’s really getting into fishing now that we’ve moved on a lake. I’ve tried giving him helpful tips here and there but I’m dad I’m sure most of you know how that goes. One day I come home from work and he was geeked because he had caught 6 bass all on a Wacky rig. I hadn’t taught him the wacky rig so I asked where he heard about that. He said Andrew Flair videos. I had no clue who he was, and sure didn’t know he was apart of the Googan Squad. Naturally I watch a couple videos to make sure they’re ok for him to watch. He talks fast and is all over the place with the direction of his videos and tries to be a little too funny but oh well. My son has learned about the wacky rig, when tried to teach him to slow down and watch his line it kind of fell on deaf ears until he saw Flair doing these things. He’s learned about baits to use in spring and summer.

While the Googans may not sit well with most they do with kids and kids can actually learn from them. I’ve never watched the others and won’t unless my son does and only will to make sure the content is ok. I have put my son onto Fish the Moment. That kid has very very informative videos and has a very good way of explaining things and stays on topic.

Yes I watch this guy a lot. Has a lot of knowledge about bass fishing!!!!!

The last two years seem to be them flaunting their bank accounts.  They dont have anything else to teach and are more about being youtube personalities.  I turn to youtube university to learn new things.

This year I've seen them break more Favorite rods and reels than any other product in the past.  Watching Scott Martin fish a tournament without a reel knob or breaking a pole, Dustin Connell breaking a rod while fishing peacock bass, and the countless rods broke from the Googan Squad mid cast. All while 1rod is fishing a dobyns and saying its the best rod hes ever used.

The videos do sell.  I've switched from wacky rigged senkos to z-man trd's after watching Brian Latimer. Picked up a pair of Costa sunglasses because of Scott Martin.

My Lund is featured twice in one of their videos for a split second. At the 7:12 and 7:22 marks :happy-111:. Coincidentally, this is the same kid in @Harold Scoggins first 2 pictures. From an outdoors standpoint, I don't care for them or their antics. From a capitalist standpoint, more power to them. At 20 years old I was washing cars at a dealership trying to support my newborn son and wife. These kids are making bank.

While I wasn't in the money at this tournament, I did get a couple nice ones.

This is an excellent attitude to subscribe to. I agree with you 100%.

Yep... They turned from a bunch of rather educational dudes who just loved bass fishing into a group of "businessmen" overnight. The one that really disappoints me is Scott Martin. His videos use to be a blast to watch, but that's before his videos became straight up shilling for whatever new product he had a stake in. Like Googan baits.

Now days most of these guy's videos are just over the 10 minute monetization mark, but there's maybe 2-5 minutes of actually fishing footage, followed by 3-5 minutes of product shilling and showing off whatever new $1,000 JDM reel or $500 swimbait they bought. It's literally like watching Instagram "influencers" but on Youtube fishing channels.

I still like most of the guys, just can't stand their videos anymore. It's nothing but shilling, dramatic reactions to 1lb bass and anything minor that happens, and basically no fishing content compared to what they use to produce.

With that being said... Am I mad? Hell no. I'm actually happy that those guys are making a career out of it, even if it's not the content I like. Some of them have grown a rather large ego like Jon B, but whatever. I miss the old content they produced, but if they gotta make money off it they gotta do what they gotta do.
