Mminin33 Posted July 5, 2019 Posted July 5, 2019 I use to watch LFG and Lunkers years ago back when they weren’t famous, and I actually had the privilege of meeting LFG at the Gibbons Creek Reservoir boat ramp a couple years ago, he seemed very cool and down to earth. About a year ago I completely stopped watching their videos. They seemed to have turned into typical big time You-tubers. Their videos have gone down in quality, they flex their wealth, and they put out a **** ton of merchandise( in this case, Googan Baits). And the videos that they do fish, they don’t go out to Rayburn or Toledo Bend, they go to private farm ponds where the fish will eat anything that hits the water. I’ll also add they’re not very educational, not that they could teach me anything I didn’t already know, but since little kids watch their content you would think they would at least commentate what they’re doing. I’ve since moved on and watch BassResource religiously. Am I being too harsh, or do y’all feel the same way? 2
Russ E Posted July 6, 2019 Posted July 6, 2019 I never understood the obsession people have with them. I think their followers are usually kids. Whatever floats your boat. I have noticed others on this site have been ripping on them lately. 1
nascar2428 Posted July 6, 2019 Posted July 6, 2019 Love em or hate em, they're not going anywhere. Just unsubscribe and refuse to watch like I do. 3
Black Hawk Basser Posted July 6, 2019 Posted July 6, 2019 I hadn't heard of this crew until people on this forum expressed their disapproval. You guys are giving them a ton of publicity! ? 5 4
The Short Fisherman Posted July 6, 2019 Posted July 6, 2019 I used to watch a few of their videos, but not anymore. In a lot of their newer videos they only catch a few fish, and the rest is filled with them talking about their sponsors and their baits. 2
Dorado Posted July 6, 2019 Posted July 6, 2019 I remember when a few of them started out with videos geared for beginner fishermen. Wished they would’ve stayed true to their roots because this over commercialization on pushing their new brand is getting so obnoxious. It’s a lot of flash and push-marketing that’s really lost my respect for a “squad” of popular Youtubers who just hit ‘copy and paste’ on other brand’s soft plastics. Nothing innovative at all here. I’ll only say one positive note. And I strongly believe this. I think they are role models for early generations and inspire younger anglers to get excited for a sport that needed to attract millennials to stop playing Fortnite and experience the outdoors. 3
Harold Scoggins Posted July 6, 2019 Posted July 6, 2019 I really don't dislike them, I just wish they would act a little more responsible for the millions of young fans they have. Because of their antics, you can be sure that there will be young, first time kayakers thinking it's OK not to wear PFDs, or even worse, not even have them in the kayaks. 8
JediAmoeba Posted July 6, 2019 Posted July 6, 2019 Onerod, one of the original Googans always had the best content anyway. He is nice, does things like picking up trash and doesn't act like an egotistical maniac. As far as YouTube fishing goes I have always watched a lot of the BassResource videos, Realistic Fishing, 1Rod and Mad River Outfitters. Other than that I occasionally watch some Scott/Roland Martin videos and the In Fisherman guys but have always steered away from most of the Googan stuff because they don't teach anything and they try to be entertaining but aren't... 1
Super User slonezp Posted July 6, 2019 Super User Posted July 6, 2019 My Lund is featured twice in one of their videos for a split second. At the 7:12 and 7:22 marks . Coincidentally, this is the same kid in @Harold Scoggins first 2 pictures. From an outdoors standpoint, I don't care for them or their antics. From a capitalist standpoint, more power to them. At 20 years old I was washing cars at a dealership trying to support my newborn son and wife. These kids are making bank. While I wasn't in the money at this tournament, I did get a couple nice ones. 9
Squarebill79 Posted July 6, 2019 Posted July 6, 2019 A bunch of punk kids. The one in question in the pictures here has an extremely punchable face. Ive watched alot of their videos and they seem to thrive off conflict just to get subscribers, he loves to fish "private" waters without permisison that they shouldnt be in, has gotten the cops called on him numerous times, and was kicked off a flight at the airport in one of their videos. There is another one where they just decide to start doing some diving on a jetty in Lake Michigan and promptly get the coast guard called on them. Another video I saw the hotel asked him to move his boat because it was taking up half the parking lot and he strung his charging cord in a bad spot. Instead of just moving his boat he has to start a bunch of drama and gets kicked out. I would never give a dime to these little punks, their baits are nothing new most people can spend far less money and catch the same amount of fish. 2

While I wasn't in the money at this tournament, I did get a couple nice ones. I had a brief stint in one of Flair's videos in a 3vs2 tournament. My favorite part was when I told him what "our" (I use that term very loosely as I was paired with his 2 buddies that contributed nothing to our total), weight and it was more than theirs, it was "might have beaten us". I'm not the smartest guy, but if one number is bigger than the other in a weight based fishing competition, the person with the heavier weight has won, no "might have" to it. 2
Dorado Posted July 6, 2019 Posted July 6, 2019 @Bluebasser86So Blue, are thinking about joining the Googan Squad anytime soon?! Haha 2
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted July 6, 2019 Global Moderator Posted July 6, 2019 Just now, Dorado said: @Bluebasser86So Blue, are thinking about joining the Googan Squad anytime soon?! Haha I'm about as complete opposite of them as you can get. I forget to turn the camera on half the time in my videos anyways.

Glaucus Posted July 6, 2019 Posted July 6, 2019 Done been tired of them. Back before they all teamed up and got really big I watched a few of them. They were just kids my age or a little younger going fishing. Somewhat educational, mostly just entertaining to watch them fish. Now they are obnoxious, insufferable tools who have let internet fame and wealth change them. Half their videos aren't even fishing anymore. Good anglers to watch are: NDYakAngler Alex Rudd BassResource (Glenn) KickinTheirBassTV (he's loud, full of energy and young, but he actually just fishes and teaches and has respect) DEBO Bamabass 1Rod1Reel distanced himself from the Googans and actually turned down the opportunity to be part of their group and business. He discussed it recently and said that they were just going different directions and he wished the best for them. Which is to say, he knew they were clowns. 3
Super User GreenPig Posted July 6, 2019 Super User Posted July 6, 2019 Watched a couple of the googan videos and that was enough.
Harold Scoggins Posted July 6, 2019 Posted July 6, 2019 I focus my attention towards kayak fishing and rigging, however, I will watch others if their purpose is to teach. Yep, this old dog is always looking for new tricks. Speaking of "old," I use to watch Gene Jensen until a few years ago, he mentioned to a group that "forums were for old people" and that he didn't want to hang out on them because YT was what the younger folks wanted. I considered that a slap in the face directed towards people who still know how and enjoy reading. Don't take me wrong, I enjoy watching YT, but I dread the day when our youth beats feet across the lake to the likes of the Googans because they are "dope" and they leave the old man in the straw hat sitting alone in his john boat - thinking he has nothing to contribute. Even as a younger man in my twenties, I always made time for the "old salts" who first taught me how to fish. Postscript: @Bluebasser86, you're really in a Googan video? (no pun intended) 1

(no pun intended) There's a place for both forums and YouTube. They are not the same. Forums allow us to interact directly and get questions answered, and YouTube gives us a visual reference. Those picking one or the other are in error. NDYakAngler and Chad Hoover are exclusively kayak anglers who have great content. ND seems about 35 and is the calmest most easiest to watch angler I've ever seen. Chad seems about 50 and is a little more eccentric but very cool, easy to watch, and informative. ND has the best river Smallie content on YouTube. Check him out. Chad too. I think you'll like them. 1
Alec McMillan Posted July 6, 2019 Posted July 6, 2019 Like many others on here, I used to watch a few of them before they had all the sponsors and baits and whatnot. Now I have completely stopped watching their videos as they now just come across as obnoxious IMO.
billmac Posted July 6, 2019 Posted July 6, 2019 I'm surprised this young man doesn't have more subscribers, but I think the Fish the Moment channel is one of the best, if not the best I've seen for pure instruction. I watch Roland's channel because I've been a fan for decades. I watch Scott Martin's channel mostly because of Roland but I have to struggle to like him. I'm a multi-species fisherman so I'll watch anything the Lindner group puts out. For sheer overall fishing knowledge, I don't think Al Lindner can be beat. Check out Fish the Moment. It's well worth the time. 2

LonnieP Posted July 6, 2019 Posted July 6, 2019 I was tired of them after I watched about 30 seconds of one of their videos. 1
