I was just reading this thread and thought “Man I have a new rod coming and $45 worth of amazon dollars to spend. A Fuego for $30 sounds like a great idea!!” I need to take a break from Bass Resource!! Don't hang around Tackletour then. 4 minutes ago, scaleface said: Thanks a lot everyone I greatly appreciated the help .I selected the Lews Tournament MB .Got it for 45 dollars . Congrats. Be sure to let us know your thoughts on the reel once you've spent some time with it. Pretty sure you will like it. 1 Quote
Super User scaleface Posted July 10, 2019 Author Super User Posted July 10, 2019 I just spooled the new Lews up with some 12 lb Big Game and mounted it on a 7 foot mh rod . Tied on a 1/4 ounce jig . So as not to backlash on the first cast I went ahead and switched all the centrifugal brakes on , set the magnetic brakes at about 3/4 max and set the spool tension so that the lure fell slowly . . Stepped out of the back door and cast it out of the yard and into a neighbors tree . Thats enough casting for now .LOL 1 Quote
Tizi Posted July 10, 2019 Posted July 10, 2019 I would go Fuego CT. I have 2 Tatula 100s and I like the Fuego better. Quote
BassThumb Posted July 11, 2019 Posted July 11, 2019 I'd just get a Curado K from eBay for $30 less that what Amazon charges, and then spend the $50 on Amazon household goods. 1 Quote
The Maestro Posted July 11, 2019 Posted July 11, 2019 If you're willing to venture into higher end reels I'd get a Bantam MGL. Be warned though. It will ruin your perception of what a quality reel feels like. It's just such a precise and refined reel that it makes even good quality reels feel like sloppy clunkers. Hard to explain with words but when you put one on a rod with a nice crisp action it gives the whole setup a super precise almost metallic feel. Clicking the thumb bar creates the most satisfying metallic "pinging" sound almost like a guitar string. 1 Quote

CrankFate Posted July 11, 2019 Posted July 11, 2019 Revo Mgxtreme2. Get Carbontex Drags (dry) and this reel can do almost everything. Quote
