But back in the real world....I prefer to fish alone. Only exception, my daughter and my grandsons. Gotta keep those youngsters closer to tackle boxes, and further from X boxes.

Ach... My son likes to fish, but... it's low on the priority list. He's pretty steeped in the tech world. And, he'd rather do things with his friends, than his dad. His considerable tech knowledge is valuable. But... easy entertainment is mighty stiff competition. What my son has been able to discover, throughout his life, is the real satisfaction "easy" just doesn't reach.

I only fish with my wife or son but most of the time alone. Not a lone wolf by any means, I just l solitude.

I prefer to fish with someone else.  I usually fish with my wife.  That allows me to do what I want while she fishes a couple of confident baits.  

And trust me, she will catch her share of fish. Buddies I fish with know their stuff to but we may have different styles and techniques so we bounce stuff off each other and always do better than solo.  

To each their own but I prefer company when I fish.

You never know...  You gave him a good foundation.  He will be back to fish with Dad.

 

I have been working in the tech industry for 13 years.  I am not burned out as it is always evolving, but I love to get out of the server room, change my view of a wall of code, and get outside.  It pays the  bills for sure, but one day I hope to get out of the city and get as close as I can off of the beaten patch.

Alone is much better for my catch ratio, don't have to worry about someone else during boat position. I do enjoy taking my best friend or wife when they can go but don't care for anyone else

I do like fishing alone. I'm my favorite fishing companion. I do have one buddy I fish with a few times a year. But he's a lot like me. We can go a half hour and not speak and it's not awkward. Come to think of it, fishing is the only way we spend time together.

I love fishing with my 4 yr old...MOST of the time.  It really goes from an awesome experience to frustration.  He's fishing texas rigs on spinning gear but this last trip out he really wants a daddy rod, baitcaster.  Im really really not excited about that haha.  I may buy him an slx dc to cut down on backlashes.

I like to fish alone or with others.   When I fish with others it can make the fishing day stressful.   I like to go fishing.

Fishing: the activity of trying to catch fish.

 

I like to catch fish, but I go for the whole experience.  IE: exercise, quietness, weather, nature, no technology, no traffic, etc.

 

People that expect to catch loads of fish, just ruin the outing for me.   I learned when I was young from my uncles that "let's go fishing" was a code for: Lets get away from these yappy women. ?  We'd grab our gear, bait, soda (later on beer), and head out.   Our trips varied 2-6 hrs, depending on the bite or time of day we left.    Some days/nights were more successful than others. 

 

 

To those that confuse "fishing" with "catching", they need to go find some asian/silver carp.   That way they can knock some sense into them.  lol

Whether I prefer it or not, now that I am retired and all of my fishing buddies are still chained to the hamster wheel, I have no choice unless one of them ditches work for a day.  It’s nice to be able to go on the weekdays and avoid the crowds but I do miss the company of my fishing buddies.  I will be leaving for 2 weeks in Wisconsin early next month and since my wife is flying into Kansas City for her class reunion and then on to Wisconsin, I will be doing the 2 day pull solo.  I decided to take a little detour and hit a lake in Wisconsin on my way up.  Will be fun to try and figure out a lake I have never been to in one day solo.

Always fun fishing with friends, but nothing beats being alone out on the water in my opinion. It's my chance to take a deep breath and relax all while getting frustrated and cussing at fish

I enjoy fishing with competent anglers or with kids/adults that want me to teach them.  I am not a fan of casual anglers who would rather catch fish with every cast and get bored because they have to work for them.    I fish mostly by myself because when I can go a lot of people are not able to and the kids think it is too slow (bass fishing).  They are spoiled in the Spring when I put them on Crappie

I enjoy both... most of the time i am alone... sometimes my wife comes with(she would come more but have a 4yr old)... love taking my son fishing but that is normally shore fishing cause he gets bored on the bass boat. Sometimes a friend or my father in law will go but most dont wanna spend all day in 100 degree weather to grind out a few fish. In San Diego fishing is very tuff with super pressured small gin clear reservoirs. Now when i go chasing tuna or yellow tail i definitely prefer to have a few buddies whether we go on a open party boat or a private boat

My fondest memories are fishing and camping along the river with my brother, we did it every year for many years when the Smallmouth were spawning. 

 

He's a logger and roofer, always working.....what an idiot. Lol

He gave up fishing but I still make the 20 mile float every spring and still find it very enjoyable. 

 

I fish 90% alone, occasionally the wife goes but she turns it into a picnic atmosphere and talks to much.

I like fishing alone. But i'm brokedown & having 2 loading the boat really help's. I don't mind My Son going but I do enjoy being alone.

With a few exceptions, If I am going to fish with someone else, I prefer that they have some level of ability.  I don't like baby sitting very much.  Also, it is a lot easier and faster to narrow down a pattern with two in the boat than with one.  I'd say, though, that it's about half and half.  I enjoy fishing with others UNTIL I feel like it's "cramping my style" too much and need a break from trying to accommodate others.  THEN, especially, I like to fish by myself.
