Bandersnatch Posted July 4, 2019 Posted July 4, 2019 I've been toying with acquiring an nrx for senkos and light jigs for a while. I've never had the patience to throw a jig before due to the slow nature and having never had a good jig bite. Thankfully on my first cast with a 5/16 jig and a trimmed rage craw one smoked it. I've been absolutely blown away with this rod. How did I not know how fun setting a jig hook could be??? For those looking for a reel pairing I tried my aldabarn and metanium mgl. They just didn't feel right. The bantam mgl pairs beautify and actually fishes lighter than the others. Bottom line. If you can get one and you need to gain confidence in bottom contact this nrx 893c is the business. Yes, I'm about ten + years late to the party. 3 Quote
Kidflex Posted July 4, 2019 Posted July 4, 2019 I agree it’s an amazing rod and even better with a bantam mgl on it! Quote

Sometimes I think the rod is overrated on sensitivity based on how people used to hype them up about feeling fish breathe on the bait and all that jargon.... Until I take a long cast and feel a thump transmit 30ft down on a fall with slack line. I say to myself is that a fish? I realize it is a fish and then I come to my senses. The rod is great. Still looking for my perfect line and reel setup for it. Glad you are loving the 893. I hear people say that's the "it" model. Happy fishing! Quote
Steveo-1969 Posted July 5, 2019 Posted July 5, 2019 Yup! Fishing with a jig is my favorite because of the "thump" and the hookset. WHOO!! The 893 was the first NRX rod I bought...... Quote
