Daniel Abram Posted July 1, 2019 Posted July 1, 2019 Has anyone here ever use any of there rods or reels? I have recently purchased from them and trying to get some feed back. Quote
Efishin Posted July 1, 2019 Posted July 1, 2019 I wasn't impressed with the Six Gill Typhoon my buddy owns. I think there are much better reels at the same price and even at cheaper prices. Quote
FishinBuck07 Posted July 1, 2019 Posted July 1, 2019 I have only messed with a rod and reel from them for a little bit at a show. They didn't feel like the best quality stuff to me, but like I said I only messed with it for a few minutes. I have a fly rod from Allen which is part of their company I believe, it is very nice for the money I have in it. Quote
Bass Ninja Posted July 1, 2019 Posted July 1, 2019 Last year I purchased two Saga casting rods and a deluge baitcasting reel. Absolutely love them. One of them is a heavy action that I made my frog rod, and the other is a medium heavy that I mostly use for chatterbaits. They are now my most used rods. I was skeptical about trying them out at first, but a friend tried them and then I started following them on facebook. What finally convinced me was seeing their interaction and customer service on social media. They go above and beyond, and so far, I'm an extremely satisfied fan. Quote
JediAmoeba Posted July 1, 2019 Posted July 1, 2019 I kept seeing their ads pop up on Facebook and when they had a BOGO sale finally decided to get 2 rods. I have to say for ~65 bucks per rod I am highly impressed. They are better for me than the tatula, Lew's or Duckett rods I have. They are well worth retail price. As far as the reels go - after getting duped into getting a few kastkings and a piscafun I won't make that mistake again getting a knockoff reel... Quote
Big Mike in Fl Posted July 1, 2019 Posted July 1, 2019 I got a couple of their cyclone reels during a b1g1 deal, I spent $100. Wish I had just bought a single reel for the money, one completely broke apart, the other I still is but have had to mess with it a few times. Some people seemed to love them but I wasn’t impressed Quote
Tlauz Posted July 2, 2019 Posted July 2, 2019 I have a few of their reels and rods. I like their rods more than the reels. They have some pretty good BOGO sales. I have two creature casting rods and one Akylos. For the money the are decent rods. Quote
Daniel Abram Posted July 6, 2019 Author Posted July 6, 2019 Well I got my rod and reel today. So far I really like it. I have line on it and cast it a few times. will give update after fishing with it some Quote
Daniel Abram Posted July 6, 2019 Author Posted July 6, 2019 Well I went out with my new set up today and I love it. If it holds up and continues to preform as it did today I really see more sixgills in my future. The rod felt great in my hand. The reel was smooth and I am well pleased Quote

Daniel Abram Posted December 7, 2020 Author Posted December 7, 2020 It is still doing really well. I am very pleased. Quote
Sixgill Bass Hunter Posted February 12, 2021 Posted February 12, 2021 I have several 6 of their rods and 4 of their reels. I absolutely love their product. Quote
Blaine Donders Posted February 12, 2021 Posted February 12, 2021 I like the rods. The reels? Not so much. Quote
michaelb Posted February 12, 2021 Posted February 12, 2021 I bought two rods with the BOGO last year. I like them and I do think the overall quality is very good for the value and price. I don't have any high end rods (or gear) though to compare; the thought of dropping a $300 rig into the lake off my kayak is just too much. I got the 6' 6" creature in MH as an all around extra rod and it is great for that. I got the 7' heavy kratos rod in part because it is hard to find a heavy rod that is not over 7'. As a hybrid rod, it has more of a moderate action, and so I am still figuring that out in terms of what works best and how to use it. The winn grip and detailing is very nice. That is my pike casting rig; I have a brand new tatula 150 in the box to put on it and so that will get a lot more use this spring/summer. 1 Quote
MacJig Posted December 12, 2021 Posted December 12, 2021 I have a number of their products (6 rods/reels, give or take) and I have a somewhat love/hate relationship with them. Aesthetically the rods and reels are A+. I do place some importance on the look of the gear and in this case they deliver. They also know how to market their products! I did "buy into" the BOGO sales; a few times as a matter of fact. I do think if you get the rods at the bogo price it's a good deal. If you pay full retail, not so much. I also own a typhoon reel that I've had a lot of problems with dialing in. It isn't one of my go-to reels. In my opinion they are priced as a high-end product but they are not high-end. Also as a footnote, I did a rating for one of their reels on their website and gave it three stars. They never posted it! Just got the feeling they monitor what ratings are posted and which ones aren't. Quote
Super User Darth-Baiter Posted December 12, 2021 Super User Posted December 12, 2021 I bought two. BOGO. I still have the heavy rod for punching. It’s on the heavy side IMHO. It works fine. I suck at punch fishing so I haven’t winched out a lot of fish. I will look for a lighter rod one day. the free rod was a spinning rod. Med. akylos, or something. I hated that rod. I did catch a lot of big bass on it tho. I couldn’t get the reel tightened down right. Fishing a fish, I could feel it clicking in the seat. It was also the nose heaviest rod I’ve ever tossed. It made my hand go numb. I gave it to a friend and he loves it. He did add ballast at the butt to make it feel more neutral with his reel. It felt like a medium heavy to me. shipping was slow the time I bought mine. Quote
