This reel has been out for awhile. Any reviews on it? Thinking about pulling the trigger soon.

I was looking to buy a Steez earlier this year and I purchased the SV TWS earlier this year instead of the A because of this review.  When I had a chance to hold both in hand I like the SV TWS better.  It just seemed to have the correct feel I was looking for in a finesse type reel.  The A was just slightly bigger and heavier. One thing odd about both is the handles.  The knobs on the the A are just uncomfortable and the handle on the SV TWS is really short in length and knobs are thin.

I love the SV TWS though but it does have it's quarks.  Beside the handle, it flexes under load.  The reel itself is sensitive and does transmit bites well in hand.  The reel is so sensitive that under a heavy load (5lb+) you can feel the reel flex sightly.  It's weird to get used to but after that it is awesome reel.

Buy it bro the best investment I have made with daiwa so far.

I like the Bantam MGL slightly more than the Steez A out of the box.  If you're into swapping different Daiwa spools, that is something to consider too.

Have you used Chronarchs or Metaniums?

I’ve got both the SV and A. I replaced the knobs on the A- I hated the stock knobs. I like the additional weight and solidness of the A on my MH rod: that’s a smooth reel. The SV is on my M rod and is awesome. Put a ZPI spool in it and wow.

I could live with either if I had too: the A is excellent and I’d be happy if that was the one I had. Just replace the knobs. ?

Had the Chronarch MGL and a 13 Met- the Steez A IMHO is a much better reel.

Yep. Steez SV TW, Steez A, SV103, SV105, Alde 50, Core 50, Scorp MGL, Curado, Curado DC, Chronarch MGL, Met  13, Met DC, Met MGL, Bantam MGL, and Anatares MGL. I own or have owned them all in the last 5 years.  The JDM Bantam is a tough reel to beat for black bass fishing.

Another member posted that the knobs on the Steez A were less than ideal.  I can confirm, indeed, that they suck.

I'd choose the Steez A over the SV TW.  I'd choose the Bantam MGL over both, unless you have a large investment in Daiwa 103 sized spools.
