Harold Scoggins Posted June 28, 2019 Posted June 28, 2019 I need to learn how to block pop ups from one of our local retailers. I can assure you that the green Bass Mafia box is not happening. 1
BassResource.com Administrator Glenn Posted June 28, 2019 BassResource.com Administrator Posted June 28, 2019 Ok, I read that wrong (or right depending on your POV). I thought the subject line said, "Googan Poop"! 7

WdyCrankbait Posted June 29, 2019 Posted June 29, 2019 I almost got "Googan Poop," yesterday (that phrase is going to stick now). I am sure they work, but seem a little too much $$ for me.
Brew City Bass Posted June 29, 2019 Posted June 29, 2019 I get marketing, I get what they're doing, and I actually like MOST of it. The thing about these brands coming out with "cool color" stuff, ya know the camo, bright greens, over-dramatic youtube videos, they're not trying to sell to you or I. They're tapping into the young market and that is GOOD! My whole life fishing has been a slow decline, especially for younger kids. I see a lot of people my age and up fishing, but rarely see anyone in their teens out pounding water. If throwing some crazy color combos and boxes out there gets them into the sport, so be it. But onto Googan baits. What a sham. The clamshell packaging is useless on worms. Why would I ever pay $6 for a 6 pack of worms? I can buy like 3 packs of 10 ct big bite baits for the same as one googan bait pack. I'm sure the hype will wear down like it always does and prices will come down to be competitive, or they don't and their bait company goes under. It's only propped up by hype right now. I think only two pros promote them, and it's painfully obvious it's only an investment for them and not a product they truly believe in. Or I could be wrong. Out of all my fishing buddies, only one buys googan baits, and he's the newest of my group. So he's caught by gimmicks and youtube videos pretty easily, despite witnessing me pounding 5lbers all night on any of the cheapest worms I can find. 4
yosef Posted June 29, 2019 Posted June 29, 2019 I picked one up because it was a nice box then I saw the 34.99 sticker on it and put it down. I like the black and red one better and it’s 20% cheaper

The Googans have a good video on how “indestructible” these boxes are. They roll over it with cars, blast it with buckshot and shoot an arrow into it.
Squarebill79 Posted June 30, 2019 Posted June 30, 2019 I would never give any of my money to these punk kids. One of them makes a habit of getting the cops called on him in his videos because he is fishing in illegal places, another one lives at home in mom's basement while he drives around $100,000 worth of pickup and boat. $6 for a 6 pack of worms is a scam if I've ever seen one, but whatever you need to do to make money I guess. 3 1

HoosierFisher Posted June 30, 2019 Posted June 30, 2019 Not paying a premium just because it's a certain color and has their logo on it. I enjoyed watching some of their videos individually when they actually showed fishing and fishing techniques, more so than vlogging. Rob was one of the first YouTube fishing channels that I remember watching. Now I do about anything to avoid their clickbait thumbnails and videos. I don't plan on buying their overpriced Chinese baits, so I'm not watching videos where they are pushing their product to give them views. If it gets kids into fishing, so be it. But I've moved onto other channels that I feel like I actually learn something from.
nascar2428 Posted June 30, 2019 Posted June 30, 2019 Just a reminder guys, Googan baits and Bio spawn baits use the same patented rage tail. Different plastic formulations and scents, same tail.

Both use the same patent number as the rage tail products. All of their baits that have the flanged tail will have the same patent number as the rage tail products. Different plastic formulations, scent and bait design are the subtle differences in the baits. 1

Thanks for the info.

The market is targeted to spoiled upper middle class brats that get everything they want and follow every new fad that hits the market. Sorry, I usually keep opinions like this to myself, but I was at a local sporting goods once and they happened to be hosting one of the Googans and there were prebuscent mini-Justin Biebers everywhere. Literally thousands of them. What a great way to make some money! Maybe it will help the sport... but then again who really wants more fishing pressure? Haha 3 6
Gorris317 Posted July 1, 2019 Posted July 1, 2019 I remember watching videos when it was 1rod1reel and then the other guys came along. It was cool for a while then they all got too big for their britches and that is when I stopped watching. I now avoid all their products like the plague. 3

Which one lives in his mom's basement!? Peric just moved into a house in IL he had built, John B also bought a house in Texas. Flair has a huge property in Nebraska (plus a townhouse?). Lunker's just built a massive house.. they all seem to be doing quite well for themselves considering their ages. 5 hours ago, nascar2428 said: Both use the same patent number as the rage tail products. I believe he still works for Strike King as of today.

I'm raising a grandson who is turning 13 he watches Googan Squad on YouTube, He's mostly into LunkersTV There's a lot worse on the internet he could be into! Kids today are into wild & crazy tackle colors, I don't recall any of y'all bad mouthing Lew's Orange Crush. If my grandson want a $6 pack of worms or $8-12 tungsten weights guess what...he earns the money. 9

Dens228 Posted July 1, 2019 Posted July 1, 2019 Considering that every thread title in this forum that has the word "Googan" in it gets a multitude of responses I'd say their marketing scheme works. I bought of pack of their craws and didn't like the consistency of the plastic. I' also don't watch their videos but I certainly don't begrudge them the $$ they are making via legal means........ 2
