Dobyns 704c or 734c

i will be using 3/8 jigs on it and 1/4 oz texas rigs. which rod would be more ideal?

depends on you since both are a 4 power rod and length is the determining factor. you like it longer or shorter?

I would say since the only difference is the length, I would go with the longer rod.  That is my personal opinion though, the extra length will give you more control over the fish.  But like I said that is my personal opinion!

I have always thought the 734 to be one of the most versatile rods in the Dobyns lineup.

Not familiar with those rods but I’d choose a 7’ over a 7’4” for the techniques you listed.   I only use longer than 7’ when I need the added casting distance for  Cranking, Carolina Rig,  Football jigs, etc.

they are both nice rods.  It all comes down to preference. 

personally I use the 734 for worms and jigs.

704 gets used for chatterbaits and spinnerbaits

The 734 is one of dobyns most versatile rods. It balances extremely well as do most of there stuff and it works well for everything. I would be going that route

Back when I fished Dobyns I always thought the 734 was a better moving bait rod.

It's good for spinnerbaits ,buzzbaits ,paddletails ect. I used to use it for spoons as well. I think it's a touch slow to make a good jig rod.

Of those 2 I'd go with the 704 but you should look at the 744 .

Its designed to be a jig and worm rod . It's a quicker more powerful rod than 734.
