Harold Scoggins Posted June 26, 2019 Posted June 26, 2019 I've had a couple of these for a couple of years now and threw one for the first time this morning before leaving the lake. The little guys, 1-2 lbs went crazy on it, can't wait to hunt something bigger with it. Anyone else try these? Deps Bullshooter 160. Quote

JediAmoeba Posted June 26, 2019 Posted June 26, 2019 At 110 bucks per bait I am guessing not too many people have these in their normal repertoire of swim baits. 1 Quote
Global Moderator TnRiver46 Posted June 26, 2019 Global Moderator Posted June 26, 2019 Yeah I don't even have a rod/reel combo that expensive 39 minutes ago, JediAmoeba said: At 110 bucks per bait I am guessing not too many people have these in their normal repertoire of swim baits. 1 1 Quote

Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted June 27, 2019 Global Moderator Posted June 27, 2019 I've had a full size and a JR, was not a fan of either, but I've not found a bluegill bait yet that has been productive in my local lakes minus a Mattlures U2 gill or Savage Gear line thru 3D bluegill and those were only marginally successful. They looked really pretty in the water and I was always on edge for the moment a big one would crush it, just never happen. Not many little ones hit them for me either. 10 hours ago, JediAmoeba said: At 110 bucks per bait I am guessing not too many people have these in their normal repertoire of swim baits. That's pretty standard price in the swimbait world. Most guys that fish swimbaits a lot don't even flinch at dropping 100-200 on a bait. Quote
Super User J Francho Posted June 27, 2019 Super User Posted June 27, 2019 I think gill success is very water specific. My Hardgill is chipped to heck. It’s a swimmer, but not on all waters. Find the right water, and a gill will destroy. 1 Quote
Super User GreenPig Posted June 27, 2019 Super User Posted June 27, 2019 I haven't got into the hard bluegill baits. The bass I chase have a strong preference for shad and blueback herring. Quote

I've tried my gill baits in lakes where the predominant baitfish was shad and I wouldn't have any luck at all. Then again, I've got a couple lakes where the shad is absent but are heavy with gill and the bass will slam these baits. 13 hours ago, Bluebasser86 said: I've not found a bluegill bait yet that has been productive in my local lakes Have you tried the Gantarel yet? They combined for 2 10" fish in months of trying. I just can't get them to eat gill baits here despite the fact that they eat a lot of gills in our lakes. Shad glides, bulls shads, or slammers are a whole other story. Quote
