If you had someone give you $200 and could only buy a fishing rod. what brand would you buy and what length and action?

I'd buy  6' St. Croix Triumph casting rod, M/F.   I'd take the rest of the money and buy some good Bourbon.      jj

Fenwick Aetos. 6'8" MH/F casting, 6'9" M/F casting, or 6'6" M/F spinning. Just depends, but definitely the Aetos.

Personally I would take the 200 and add whatever you usually spend on a rod or your max budget and buy a rod you’d otherwise never be able to justify, like a 7’2mh expride would make a good multipurpose rod, or a 843c mbr glx would be excellent as well.

if not then I’d look at the zodias 7’2” mh or kistler probsbly

This was my first thought.  Wait for a sale.  Got mine for about $175.

can't answer unless you state what technique you need a rod for.

Another vote for Shimano Zodias 6'10" MH. As a matter of fact, I like my Zodias / Curado K setup so much I'm getting a 2nd exact same set up soon.

I'd try the new 2019 Levante to see how they are.

But if I wanted to stick with my tried and true, I'd get another Zodias or Avid.

I do like my Tatula rods a lot and might be tempted to save a little money for some lures, but I'd take a good look at this zodias if I was looking for an all-purpose jig rod unless I live in an area with some extremely heavy cover.

Is this a research question, or just another pointless hypothetical? Either way if you follow the advise you are going to end up with the wrong shoe..., I mean stick.

If it HAS to be for sneakers only - I'd tell them to save $170...the one's I'd want only cost $30

If it's for shoes in general

Pair of Sneakers.

Pair of steel-toe work boots (mine are getting a little ratty).

Pair of dress ankle boots (gives me two pair).

Pair of good quality sandals.

I would never spend $200 just for a pair of sneakers...I don't run, I don't cross-train...so why do I need those specialty sneakers?
