kayaking_kev Posted June 23, 2019 Author Posted June 23, 2019 It was a very sunny day in NW Ohio, and I was just throwing a Texas rigged and Wacky rigged Green Pumpkin Senko. I caught the big one with the wacky rig and a circle hook, so I didn't even need to set the hook. Also in the video is a Rainbow Trout which I think might have SVD and I'm looking for some opinions on that and whether or not I should contact someone if it is. I usually kayak fish in small local rivers for smallmouth using topwater, but they have all been a disaster due to the amount of rain we've gotten all Spring, I've been forced to learn how to fish lakes, which has been a good thing. Brandon O'tinger Posted June 24, 2019 Posted June 24, 2019 (edited) Congratulations man, it feels great doesn't it? I caught my personal best largemouth this past Monday, also a 4 and a half pounder. I'm still stoked about that. You'll never forget your catch either. Edited June 24, 2019 by Brandon O'tinger bad spelling Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted June 24, 2019 Global Moderator Posted June 24, 2019 That was perhaps the longest fight I've ever seen with a 4.5lb bass on casting gear, looked like she was a heck of a puller. Quote
BassNJake Posted June 24, 2019 Posted June 24, 2019 Congrats on the new PB and thanks for the share. ps.That was a nasty looking trout Quote

I was thinking the same thing. But I've never fished from a kayak let alone what looks to be a smaller kayak. Maybe the goal was to let the fish tire itself out so it was easier to handle when landing it. Quote
Super User Bankbeater Posted June 24, 2019 Super User Posted June 24, 2019 Nice going! A new PB is the best! Quote

kayaking_kev Posted July 30, 2019 Author Posted July 30, 2019 Thanks guys for the congrats! Sorry I'm so late, I been busy fishing while it's been good. I can't say if it was long battle or not, I haven't caught one that big before, but I've lost a few that big, so I was being gentle and I'm not too experienced of a fisherman yet. I just started last year, but it sure was fun letting him pull me around like that. I was just so afraid I was going to lose it, I wanted to baby it and make sure it was tired out. I learn from comments like these and now I know that I don't have to be so gentle with them, but if I lose the next one I'm coming back here and complaining, JK. If you want to me see fight another bass for longer that I should of, I'll post my latest video, where I caught 41 bass river fishing. 1 Quote
Global Moderator TnRiver46 Posted July 30, 2019 Global Moderator Posted July 30, 2019 Where at in NW Ohio? My girlfriend is from somewhere near hamler, I'll be up that way next month Quote
Sphynx Posted August 12, 2019 Posted August 12, 2019 Pretty fish, if you are concerned about that trout it couldn't hurt to let the DNR in your area know about it and offer to make that part of your video available to them. Quote
