What’s going on guys my names kyle I’m new to this forum and was wondering which reservoir is better for large mouth bass fishing. I’m from Nassau county Long Island but willing to make the trip up there. Any tips on which one is better and any tips to fishing either of those areas. Thank you in advance.

I assume you mean Croton, and that would be my choice, though both are good. Haven't fished that area in a long while, but I hear they are still very good. The only issue with NYC water supply reservoirs are the restrictions and requirements to fish them, make sure you are familiar with them, or bring a slow fishing buddy. In addition to that, the clear, deep water and size make them difficult to figure out in just a few outings. The pigs that live there make it worth while though. Also, you have some surprisingly good LMB in your own backyard Lawn Guy Lander, LET'S GO RANGERS!!! POTVIN SUCKS!

Make sure you have the water supply land Access permit before fishing over there. Fishing the shoreline is a difficult task.  New croton reservoir has some open spots for boat tab applications.

Do you guys have any other insight about places on or near Long Island worth the trip for fishing off the shore? Those 2 reservoirs were not that far out of nyc but I’m willing to travel similar distances for some good fishing.

Im not saying its worth the trip for you but just below kensico is a small lake called the silver lake preserves. I fish there like 4 times a year and its produced some of my biggest bass, including my pb and second biggest both from the bank.

I've fished both, and for me fishing was better on Kensico, but that was a decade ago.  In order to really do well, you need to have access to a boat.  The regular crew that fishes there are notoriously tight lipped, and very skeptical of new people.  I would prefer to have a boat on Croton.  There are tons of rules for the ressies.  I would be fishing one of the boat storage spots, and trying to meet and make friends with someone with boat access.

They are a solid group of guys.  If you do, reach out to Dennis, "Big D."  Tell him I said hey man!
