That was me for 14 years! Inline spinners, yes. Spinnerbaits? I’d be dead if my life depended on catching a bass on a spinnerbait until last year. I did everything just as you. Oddly enough the thing that made a difference was a change in my line. I had 14# stren (talk about old school, lol) fluorescent blue. That was the difference.  When I ran low and didn’t have any fluorescent blue line, the catching stopped again. Give it a try. My spinnerbait rig has 14# test but it isn’t fl blue and guess what... no spinnerbait bass yet this season, lol. I’m switching to fluorescent blue which I found finally.

Yeah Im not far off.  I still throw a spinnerbait from time to time.  I throw them on a 6'8 medium/heavy fast rod with 15 pound flouro.  I dont really see how a changing my line will help but Ill give anything a try for spinnerbaits.

Lipless crank. It's bad, SMH

Just keep fishing those lipless crank baits my friend.  They are some of my favorite lures to fish.  Rattle Traps, Red eye shad, River2Sea Ruckus, and most recently in the spring I picked up a few of the Yo-Zuri 3DB vibes and gave those a try.  They are just fun to fish

I'm about to catch grief on this one.  There are two for me.  I've never caught a single bass on a dropshot.......or a Ned rig.  I have an excuse for the Ned rig tho.  Most of the lakes around here have weedy, muck bottoms which just doesn't invite Ned rig success.  I honestly just havent ever fished a dropshot.  I'm a huge mojo rig fan so thats the finesse setup I always go to.

I'm sure there are tons of off the wall techniques I've never even attempted but for something more common I would say the dropshot. I just ordered my first spinning setup so I'm hoping to start throwing it more.

Alabama Rig.  When they busted on the scene I went out and bought 5 of them...threw them around and never caught anything.  Bought a bunch of different heads, different trailers, different styles...still nothing.

Runner up would be a football jig.  I have only caught one fish out of the Delaware river on one...otherwise they just get snagged on rocks or bring in gobs of sludge and weeds.

I actually cannot get a bass to hit a buzz bait believe it or not, I throw topwater all day, not sure if its the water, or using cheap buzz baits, but I have 4 on the way from TackleWarehouse to see if I can change that. I have hit bass on literally everything from ploppers, to spooks, to frogs, but buzzbaits I cant figure out if im working them too fast, too slow or dont understand how to pick their colors lol.

Lures I own/owned that haven't produced a bass;

Whopper Plopper-  Was gifted one, used it a few times,  lost it.  Don't have interest in getting another.

12'+ Cranks-  Own plenty but hardly ever have one tied on.  At some point I will spend the days to figure them out.

The whopper plopper, and my choppos are my go to topwaters. They are on sale I would defintely try a bone, a black, and maybe like a ghostgill or monkeybutt color and you can thank me later haha. They will get hit in full sun high noon, something about those baits, maybe its where I fish, but they get just hammered. My choppo has not came off one of my rigs all season, I actually need to put a hook on it, one of the trebles snapped off.

Haven't caught anything but my hand on any bait with a treble hook. Love dragging things on the bottom. Jigs, Carolina rigs, shakey heads, Ned rigs, drop shots though. Like others have said need to just fish them and stick with them to gain confidence.

I have never caught a bass on a Senko. I’ve thrown it Texas Rigged, Wacky Rigged, and Weightless. Notta.

Glide baits (haven't tried that hard). I haven never fished deep diving cranks yet. Wake baits, admittedly I've never fished flukes or soft jerkbaits (these are the same thing right?). I've never caught a fish on blade baits or giant swimbaits either.

I didn't either. As a matter of fact the only reason I used stren 14# blue was because it was the only line I had greater than 10# test and less than 20 and I really wanted to use 12.  It was also at least 9-10 years old too, used for a season of saltwater salmon fishing.  The line was kept in a dark place the whole time so I wasn't worried about its age.  I could not keep the bass off.  The first outing I caught 5 bass in like 15 minutes. Thought it was a fluke.  5 bass in 15 vs. 0 bass in 14 years. I tried mono of many tests, and braid... Zero, zip, nada. I am open to hear why this mono color and this strength of line could be the difference.  Two different lakes/ponds too.

I caught a bass in every 15 minute stint in which I used a spinnerbait. The mystery is afoot.

A Spybait and a Ned rig for me. And I must admit I probably should cash in another round tuit next time out and give Ned a shot at putting fish in the boat...

Pretty amazing to read through this thread and see the variety. Blows my mind that things like a jig or green pumpkin senko are on here lol. Or drop shot for that matter.  Mine would be ned rig and whopper ploppers.  I've caught a cple on ploppers but I've slayed them on other topwaters when they wouldn't touch a plopper. Ned rig just hasn't gotten much use as the lakes I fish dont setup well for that presentation.  Need to fish the ned rig some more and give the ploppers away lol. Guess this thread is proof of how different things are across the country and how differently anglers approach things

Line change will effect it. Go as light as you can get away with.

But it ultimately comes back to confidence.

I been beat by a 7 year old with bread and a bobber. Why? Every cast he felt was gonna be a record.

Catch that first one and your off to the races

Not ashamed to say, but as much as I've thrown them, I don't believe I've ever put a single fish in the boat on a Fat Ika.

I have never bought any Fat Ikas. I guess he will hate me.

The 5" Senko.......Never caught one single fish on that.

However - The 3" Senko catches more fish for me than the Ned Rig.

Go figure.

Not ashamed. But, the only fish I've ever caught on a bass jig, is a 4" bluegill.

Fat Ikas have been a mainstay, for both LM and SM from shore.  They have been a great producer, and also caught 3 - 4lb/5lbers on it.

I use it for all of my shallow jigging applications from shore.

And has been unbeatable for sight fishing thus far.

Yes indeed.

You will find a similar spread of response if you asked the question, "What works when nothing else does?"  The variety of responses will encompass nearly everything you can find at the store.

Location, for the most part, is key.

Never caught anything on a spinner bait, a skirted jig or anything topwater (rat, frog, popper, whopper plopper) - granted I don't throw them much, but when I do, nothing.

Yet ;)
