Hello Everyone,

I am new to fishing and am looking to increase my bites. I currently am not interested in only landing big bass and the lures I am using are a bit big for smaller bass and pan fish (crappie and blue gill in my area). What types of lures do you suggest that are a bit more universal, but that a bigger bass may also go after. So basically I am just looking to catch more fish and do not care so much about the species or size. I typically fish in small reservoirs in SW Ohio where the water has moderate to low visibility due to algae and sediment.

Thanks in advance!

Beetle spins, smaller jerkbaits (Rapala floating size 03 or 05), smaller crankbaits (Rapala Shad Rap size 04 or 05, Rattlin' Rap size 04 or 05, DT-4, DT-6), inline spinners (Mepps size 01, 02, 03 in either Aguila or Comet)

There's a few suggestions that'll work for both small-mid size bass and panfish.

Small paddle tail swimbaits.  I like the 2" sassy shads.

Ned rig and small poppers (<2in) are pretty universal fish catching lures for me.

*edit: Ned rig might be a bit big for a gill but the rock bass and crappies sure like them.

Norman Deep Tiny N's will catch everything from bluegills and perch to bass, pike , and walleyes.  Spring Craw is my favorite color, but for clear water and sunny days, have a black and silver available.  Bumblebee is another good color, looks like a perch.

Joes flys 1/4oz bass size. Blackgnat, firetiger Apache.

mepps #3 in-line anglia silver grey tail. But everyone in the bass assortment pack catches fish.

norman thin n hot chartreuse.

bomber cranks red, brown, green, size 05

rebel pop r blue

white spinnerbait gold Indiana blade 3/16 oz to 1/4oz with a mister twister 4” split double tail trailer in white. The blue glimmer skirt seems to work better than white.

chartruese spinnerbait gold Indiana blade, 3/16 to 1/4 oz. with a mister twister split double tail trailer in  Chartruese. The hot chartruese skirt seems to work better.

senko, amber red, red flake, Carolina 1/8 oz rig, 24” leader.

black 6” rubber worm split shot rigged. Move it slow then pause watch your line for movement.

try different presentations do not reel too fast. Anyone of these baits can be used at any depth by adjusting your line speed. I like brighter colors at dusk as the sun goes down and twilight as the night turns to day.
