Jason.Domingo Posted June 22, 2019 Posted June 22, 2019 Hey all, been freshwater fishing for about a month and a half now and I must say I enjoy the light tackle and not having to lug around 10ft surf rods and heavy reels lol. Currently using a 7’ 705CB Dobyns Fury paired with a Shimano SLX and a 7’2” Megabass Levante 2019 Diablo Spec-R paired with a Shimano Curado K. Quote

Super User WRB Posted June 22, 2019 Super User Posted June 22, 2019 Where in California are you located; NorCal, SoCal or Central? Sounds like you have good quality bait casting tackle. You may want to consider adding finesse spinning if located in SoCal. Welcome to BR. Tom Quote

Normally have to travel up north, south bay or to the east bay. Yes, did a lot of homework and researching for quality set ups. Figured, might as well do it right the first time lol. Quote
Super User WRB Posted June 22, 2019 Super User Posted June 22, 2019 I replied using my iPhone and missing your location. We have members from the Bay Area who fish the local reserviors and the delta. I believe Coyote bait and tackle is still open? they should have up to date info on local lakes. Good luck, Tom Quote
Super User J._Bricker Posted June 22, 2019 Super User Posted June 22, 2019 Hello @Jason.Domingo from Northern California! Welcome to Bass Resource and the Forums. Closest place to the City to fish for Northern strain LMB is Lake Merced. Otherwise, as I’m sure you’re well aware it’s gonna entail some driving.... Quote

I try to stay away from Lake Merced even though its just within walking distance from where I live lol. That lake is not all that well kept up. Me and the wife dont mind driving..we’ve already hit up lakes all the way from Clearlake to Lake Sonoma down all the way to Stevens Creek Reservoir so drivings not that big of an issue lol. Quote
