The bug is bulkier and has more flappers. The Menace is by far more productive for me than the bug.

*I would think you would want to use the rage bug alone as a creature bait on a c-rig or maybe pitching to targets.

The menace is my go to bait when I have hit a few spots and not gotten a bite. I really should fish it more often. I also like it as a punching bait with some tungsten and maybe a skirt.

A comment I saw around here once by @cgolf (I think) turned me on to fishing the menace on a slider head -- turns out that's an absolute killer bottom/finesse presentation for midsummer, both lakes and rivers.  Cast. Sink. Reel slowly keeping it near bottom, or work it with short hops.

I am killing it again with the Menace and slider head around reeds. Not sure what it is about that combo but no other bait has been as productive. Rage bug gets bit, but not as much. The menace also holds up better and you get more fish per bait than the bug.

We're fans of the Menace grub also. 3" and 4" T rig or shakey head. Summer Craw has been a great color. It's my grandsons favorite bait

No doubt, it's 90% in my head...but, I can't get a non-current water LMB to touch a Menace.  But I ALWAYS have a Bug on.  In current, the Menace gets bit just fine.....especially by SMB, but LMB, also.    I've reconfirmed this last couple times out....the only thing that gets near a Menace in a lake is that rat-a-tat-tat bluegill bite.

Wanted to add that I started my Menace journey as a skeptic, because I thought many were saying good things because they were a site sponsor. Ultimately now I am a fanatic even using them successfully fishing for trout.

After posting Tuesday morning, that night reminded me they aren’t a miracle bait. A go to bait of mine in years past the gambler ugly otter (slider head too) slayed the fish that night when they wouldn’t sniff the menace. The menace still was my top bait the rest of the week, but I made sure to mix in other baits a bit more frequently than before. It was a great lesson for me to not rely too much on one bait.

What I discovered with the otter and used with the menace around vertical cover, reeds, is they liked the bait dropped and then shook in place, like I got shocked is the best description I can think of for the shake.  Then I reeled it out fishing it like a jerkbait for the first few feet before speed reeling it in.

As stated above the menace for me is like a finesse flipping bait. It gets bit a lot more than the bug does.  I fish it by itself or on finesse jigs.  The bug only gets play when I'm sight fishing or looking for strictly bigger bites

I am all Menace, no Bug.  I find them to be very similar in action but the Menace is more durable so I go with it.
