Super User TOXIC Posted June 21, 2019 Super User Posted June 21, 2019 That's the great thing about dropshotting, everyone has their own style and rigging. As for me, I don't do anything the same way as you do. First, I use a palomar knot. When tying, if you go in to the hook eye from the front of the hook (the hook side not the shank side) it will naturally hold your hook up straight. If it doesn't you can put the tag end back through the eye like you did. I don't fish nose hooked baits on a dropshot. All of my baits are on a #1 Gamakatsu EWG. Finally, I don't like tungsten for a dropshot. It gives too much feedback if you are dragging or drift fishing and the smaller profile for my preferred weight (1/4 oz) hangs up much more. But hey, that's the great thing about fishing, there's lots of styles and they all work. 4 Quote

Pretty sure my results are well documented here. 2 Quote
Super User MN Fisher Posted June 21, 2019 Super User Posted June 21, 2019 Having only one eye makes tying knots a bit difficult for me. I did use the dropper loop but even that took time and effort. Picked up some VMC spinshot hooks and now use those with the extra line from filling the reel cut to the length I want and a casting weight at the end. Quote
Hook2Jaw Posted June 21, 2019 Posted June 21, 2019 What's in that picture @J Francho posted, guys? I'm Ray Charles in here. 1 hour ago, J Francho said: I really agree with this, except I START at 1/2 oz. Pretty sure my results are well documented here. As someone who just got his drop shot specific setup, I need to start picking your brain more. I don't have much clear water access, but fooling them with a drop shot appeals to me. Quote

LxVE Bassin Posted June 24, 2019 Posted June 24, 2019 I like to snell my hooks and use a 5/16 weight and up. Quote
ike8120 Posted June 24, 2019 Posted June 24, 2019 I also like to use the spin shot hooks, maybe more expensive, but easier to use for me. Quote
