I have been looking at a product for protecting Gelcoat that Glenn recommended in a previous post call Bow to Stern.  They make a combination polish/protectant and a straight protectant.  Glenn said it really made his boat shine, but I wonder if anyone here has used it for a year or more.  I would like to know how it held up.

I also see from searching the posts that a lot of guys swear by Bassboatsaver. I understand that it should be used every time you pull your boat out of the water to clean it and add protectant.  Has anyone tried using Bassboatsaver after treating the boat with Bow to Stern?  I wonder if it is even needed if  you use Bow to Stern?

I am tired of having to compound my boat every year to keep the finish bright in spite of using wax.  It is an older boat and the gelcoat oxides somewhat over the course of a year.  Any advice you can give will be appreciated.

I'm not an expert in this field by any stretch but I would suggest you contact a boat repair shop to see about having the gelcoat reapplied. It may not be as expensive as you might think. A friend of mine had this done several years ago but I don't remember the details. His boat looks like new.........................Al

ive been using bassboatsaver for 3+ years and it is a superior product, bow to stern might be fine for some but it aint good enough for my boat....bassboatsaver is also a wax that protects every aspect of your boat from the suns uv rays....bow to stern looks just like any ol regular spray on detailer, and if thats all your after then id suggest meguirs for that....but if you want total protection for the boat, car, carpet and everything in between then id recommend bassboatsaver

I take it from your reply that Bassboatsaver has done a good job over the past 3  years of protecting your gelcoat and vinyl from sun and pollutant induced oxidation?  That is really what I am looking for as my boat has oxidized enough between my yearly waxings to concern me.

Do you use it each time you take your boat out of the water or just every other time, and do you use it at the ramp or after you get home.  How long does it take to go over your boat?  Thanks for the info.

I have been using BassboatSaver on my Skeeter for over 2 years.  I usually clean/wipe it down before I leave the Marina and it takes me less than an hour to complete the job.  I don't usually bother to go back over it once it dries since it does not leave a film like a polish.

If I bring the boat home and then wipe it down it doesn't take any more effort and the scum line, if any, comes right off. I use it on the motor and the whole boat and it doesn't leave the seats so slick that you slide around.  It doesn't have a chemical/petroleum smell to it.  In fact it has a pretty good perfume smell.  Not harsh.

To sum it up, yep, it cleans/shines and protects the whole boat.  Best product I have found.

I was channel surfing today and watched a TV show named ShipShape TV and thought of this thread. They restored a faded gelcoat on a boat that was in pretty bad shape and it looked very good when completed. They stated this product will last 2-3 years. Who knows, but I wrote down their web address if you are still interested........Al

Cajun1977,

I like to see a man that is convicted to his principles (and products). That's the kind of customers we love to have. Have you looked at the other threads on this site about BTS? Did you have a chance to take advantage of the free BTS trial last week offered to Bass Resource members?

We don't ask anyone to take our word for BTS. We have had BTS out for about a year now and have converted nearly every BBS customer to BTS that has tried it. BTS is used by about 60% of the Bass Elite field and most of them pay retail for it. Bass Boat Saver is a good product, but the makers suggest it to be used after every outing. To me that's a lot of product use, but that's just me. BTS application is suggested monthly (or less frequently) depending on use. BTS costs no more then BBS per ounce, so overall is much more economical. It creates such a durable finish that a simple wipe-down with a towel gets off all the grime, scum line and exhaust stains included and contains a much higher level of UV "A" and "B" blockers. . It does all that BBS does and much more. BTS wants your business and is willing to prove its value with a no questions asked money back guarantee. Check out the thread here at: http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1214506297/0 . Keep checking into the forum for the field tester reviews of BTS in the next couple of weeks.
