Andrew1505 Posted June 15, 2019 Posted June 15, 2019 Me and a friend were planning on making a trip up to Tennessee from Alabama to try and wade a creek for smallmouth bass. We have never targeted smallmouth because they are hard to come by in our location. Could anyone give us some locations south of Nashville that would be good for wading for smallmouth. Also some suggestions on lures and baits would be greatly appreciated! We would like to try and find a place no more than 2 hours away from Huntsville Alabama if possible. Thank you! Quote
VolFan Posted June 16, 2019 Posted June 16, 2019 Probably the Ocoee east of Chatanooga would be a good bet. All I really know in that area. Maybe the Camry Fork but that would really stretch your two hour drive. The Duck River is diverse but I don’t know any wading spots. Quote
Super User Tennessee Boy Posted June 16, 2019 Super User Posted June 16, 2019 Welcome to the forum. I don’t have any experience wading South of Nashville but used to do a lot of wading west of Nashville many years ago. Have you considered the Elk River? Maybe around Fayetteville. That’s not far from Huntsville. As far as baits, Rebel Wee Crawfish were always my favorite for creek smallmouth. Slider worms are also a good choice. Quote
Global Moderator TnRiver46 Posted June 16, 2019 Global Moderator Posted June 16, 2019 The sequatchie river might be just what you are looking for. Small tube jigs and topwater are my favorites Quote

We have definitely thought about the Elk and that is our front runner. We were planning on trying it right underneath Tim’s Ford but was worried about the pressure since it is quite popular. 51 minutes ago, TnRiver46 said: The sequatchie river might be just what you are looking for. I have kayak fished the Duck before but had no luck. and you’re right it is a thought spot for wading. 1 Quote
VolFan Posted June 16, 2019 Posted June 16, 2019 Caney Fork is north and just east of Nashville. Probably further than you wznt to go, and probably no better than the Elk fwiw. 1 Quote
Global Moderator TnRiver46 Posted June 16, 2019 Global Moderator Posted June 16, 2019 Ive only fished sequatchie a time or two but I think we were around Pikeville around highway 27. It eventually flows into upper guntersville. 1 Quote
