Weedless Posted June 12, 2019 Posted June 12, 2019 For fun, If you would go to a lake you never fished, have no time to scout it, and are competing against your friend /or guy you can't stand who thinks he is better then you (for bragging rights, ha) how would you rig 5 rods? Its this time of year, in the north east part of country, partly cloudy, low 50's in morning to low 70's by end of day, slight stain (2-4' visibility), from 6am to 6pm, and only 12 beers, pack of pop-tarts, and a water with you. I tend to work as a team with friends so you would end up having 10 potential presentations, this would not happen with someone I dislike, obviously. No particular order -Crankbait -Search bait (Spinnerbait/chatterbait, covering water) -Tube -Topwater like Whopper plopper -Ned rig or dropshot in case you end up needing to finesse them Quote

Spinner bait on the Baitcaster(20lbs braid) Senko on the 7' M/EF spinning rod(15lbs braid) Keitech 3.8 Fat Impact on the 7'ML/F spinning rod(8lbs NanoFil...soon to be 10lbs braid) If I know Im going to be running over lilly's or grass. I may start off with a frog on the Baitcaster, but Im not scared to burn a weightless FAT Impact over lilly pads. I lose some on that light gear, but it is real sporty! Quote

I would look at a lake map at home before considering what to use. My 5 outfits would be 1 heavy jig rod, 2 MH 5 power jig & worm rods, MH crank bait rod and M finesse spinning rod. MHF casting rod for T-Rigs and Jigs, bottom contact and target pitching to cover. Could double as a frog rod in a pinch, if needed. Rigged to start with a t-rigged creature, worm or lizard. 2. Another MHF or MH-MF casting rod for horizontal moving baits, especially lipless, spinnerbaits, bladed jigs, buzzbaits, whopper plopper, spooks, or other heavier topwaters. Could do 3/8oz and up crankbaits in a pinch. Rigged to start with a buzzbait. 3. Short MF or MXF casting rod for jerkbaits and topwaters up to 1/2oz. Could handle light bottom contact or a senko/fluke if needed. Rigged to start with a walking popper. 4. MF or MXF spinning rod for senkos, flukes, tubes, grubs, or jerkbaits/ small topwaters in the wind. could do a shakyhead if needed. Rigged to start with a weightless, t-rigged or wacky senko. 5. MLF or MLXF spinning rod for shakyhead, ned rig, slider heads, mojo rig, drop shot, or other small open-hook plastics, e.g. small keitechs, underspins, grubs. Super User Fishes in trees Posted June 18, 2019 Super User Posted June 18, 2019 You must be youthful - beer & pop tarts - really? Pick one - savory or sweet and go with that. Me - I tend to go with savory - a dozen or so waters, maybe a few session IPA's - a sandwich or two. A thermos of coffee along with a breakfast sandwich driving to the lake helps with the energy level a lot. Now, about the fishing - I would consider 2-4 feet visibility a significant stain. I wouldn't tie anything on - bring all your gear and make decisions once you've seen what you'll be fishing. I'd probably lead off with a lipless crank or a chatter bait, mostly because that is what I usually lead off with. You're probably fishing post spawn conditions, with the fish not really set up yet in summer patterns. That usually mean soft plastics to me. 1 Quote

If I'm asking the InterWeb®, my friend is most likely a better fisherman than me. Also it would take maybe 15-30 minutes to use the same InterWeb® to get a good idea as to what a body of water might be like at a particular time of year.
