PezJunkie Posted June 23, 2008 Posted June 23, 2008 Just bought a 1988 skeeter starfire bass boat but wont be able to pick it up till next week, but it needs a trolling motor and I would like to get one before I pick it up so it would be ready to install. I was wanting to know does anyone know or know where I can find out what size shaft I need on a trolling motor for this boat. Quote
Garnet Posted June 23, 2008 Posted June 23, 2008 The 10 inch in the water is the spec. but if you fish big water I would add. a 42 inch model 24 volts should be top shelf. Garnet Quote
Super User Jig Man Posted June 23, 2008 Super User Posted June 23, 2008 Many bass boats come from the factory with a 42" shaft trolling motor. If you plan to fish windy water then I suggest a 45". Quote
XcoM274 Posted June 23, 2008 Posted June 23, 2008 Well, you can't hurt yourself to go long. Most boats come 42. Quote
Super User Catt Posted June 23, 2008 Super User Posted June 23, 2008 Get the longest shaft and most power you can afford; you will not be sorry Quote
sneaker Posted June 24, 2008 Posted June 24, 2008 The motors with a continuously variable throttle (digital speed control/maximizer) will double your battery time when operating at 1/2 power or less. Thats where I spend most of my time. Not cheap, but neither is an extra battery set. Quote
