Just bought a 1988 skeeter starfire bass boat but wont be able to pick it up till next week, but it needs a trolling motor and I would like to get one before I pick it up so it would be ready to install. I was wanting to know does anyone know or know where I can find out what size shaft I need on a trolling motor for this boat.

Many bass boats come from the factory with a 42" shaft trolling motor.  If you plan to fish windy water then I suggest a 45".

Get the longest shaft and most power you can afford; you will not be sorry  :)

The motors with a continuously variable throttle (digital speed control/maximizer) will double your battery time when operating at 1/2 power or less. Thats where I spend most of my time. Not cheap, but neither is an extra battery set.
