Ok so I just bought the tatula 100 ct. I have only been fishing for about a year and wanted to go in with a reel I wanted and could fit perfectly in the palm of my hand. The only problem is every time I have a fish on, when I reel, the reel just keeps turning and nothing is happening. When I pull in branches from snags, the reel does not do this. What is wrong?

I'm sorry if this sounds insulting, but I have to ask, do you know what drag is and do you have it set properly? If it's super loose and the fish is running, it isn't coming in or is coming in very slowly.

Drag is that star thing on the side correct? When I have a fish, I can turn the handle but line does not begin to come in. I hope that makes sense.

Are you using braid without any kind of backing? Braid is so slick that unless a spool is “braid ready,” you will need a backing to prevent it from slipping during the retrieve. Mono and tape are the two most common ways to address this. Let us know.

Sounds like you have a bad knot on the spool that is slipping or broke.

I apologize, I am using straight Flouro

What confuses me is when I reel in a giant branch, this does not happen.

Sounds like a drag issue to me then. A branch isn't running the other direction. It's either way too loose or broken in general. And yes drag is the star on the side of the reel.

Call Daiwa. I had an issue with my drag on the new 100. They walked me through some steps over the phone that helped determine that there was and issue with the drag. Sending it out Monday and should only be gone a week according to the rep.

Ok, will try that.

Possible the plate under the main gear is not seated properly (# 76). No way to know without opening it. In rarer cases, the main gear shaft sleeve could be unseated (# 81). It’s also possible that #’s 83-90 are not oriented properly. Or worse yet the antireverse is shot. I have only seen that happen on $18 Chinese baitcasters in saltwater.

Is it safe to assume you bought a new reel?  I picked up a used reel that I couldn't spool line on.  No drag pressure even when tightened down as much as possible.  Turned out to have a couple missing pieces.  People like to do their own work on reels, but sometimes shouldn't.  :(
