Hi, i know for braid i have tied double palomar knots with great success. strong and secure.

For mono I have been using a normal palomar knot, which has a single overhand knot in it.

the double palomar has two overhand knots. Is there any advantage to doing this for monofilament?

Thanks

Standard palomar has worked great for me, braid and mono. if it slips you might be tying it incorrectly

I don't tie a double for either and have never had a Palomar knot fail

As long as you don't twist the loop putting a hook or lure through a standard Palomar knot is 100% knot strength using monofilament line.

The only time I have had a palomar knot fail was when it was tied wrong or the mono on the reel needed to be changed out.

Test it out and see...tie one jig with one and another jig with another and then pull them apart a few times and see which one breaks first. I've done this with different knots/lines and one thing I'm convinced of is that some knots do better on different lines. A Fishin Fool knot actually beats a Palomar with most monos so that's what I use the most. I don't think I've ever tied a double Palomar though.
