Super User Log Catcher Posted June 7, 2019 Super User Posted June 7, 2019 I just watched Glens video about tube fishing and the one about Texas rigging a tube. On the rare times I fish a tube I normally rig them on a 2/0 Gama EWG hook with an 1/8OZ sinker. Usually a tube falls in a spiral and creates a lot of line twist. I use a barrel swivel and a leader to stop this problem. Is there a way to Texas rig a tube so it doesn't create a lot line twist problems? Quote
Fishin' Fool Posted June 8, 2019 Posted June 8, 2019 Maybe a heavier weight and/or peg your weight would probably prevent a spiraling fall. I'm assuming you're fishing this on spinning gear. Are you using a braid to fluoro leader? Otherwise line twist is inherent in mono or fluoro lines with spinning reels. 1 Quote
zell_pop1 Posted June 8, 2019 Posted June 8, 2019 Do what I do. M Casting rod and rig em stupid style. I only use spinning for tubes to skip docks. 1 Quote
OnthePotomac Posted June 8, 2019 Posted June 8, 2019 Same here in that I tube fish on a bait caster with 10lb flouro, Texas rigged, a 3/0 gammie and a 3/16 slip sinker pegged because they all go in the grass (which is finally appearing in the Potomac very, very late). Weeks of muddy water really kicked back the grass growth. 1 Quote
Super User Log Catcher Posted June 8, 2019 Author Super User Posted June 8, 2019 I have used them on baitcasters and spinning rods. If using a baitcaster it will be on 12# floro with usually an 1/8OZ pegged sinker. On spinning gear it will be on 10# mono with a 1/16OZ pegged sinker. I have never used braid on any of my setups. I may need to try braid or use heavier sinkers. I probably need to buy some new tubes as the ones I have are pretty old. Quote
