Had my hardest hit ever yesterday

Went back to the county lake and fished off the dock. I had set the hook on a hand size bluegill and as the thing veered right to try to get off, this big fat bass came and started pursuing it, and then she just absolutely CRUSHED IT. Swallowed it in one swoop and the blowup it made was loud. I have never had that happen before. Sadly I couldn't get it in but it was still so cool to have that happen and I actually had it on the line for about 20 seconds even not being hooked directly. It appeared to have very impressive length and girth. Looked like the body of a 6 or 7 lb bass.

Now go out and get some hooks for live bait, bring some light gear and catch some bluegills, and hook them up and see if you can land that bass.

That's awesome, thanks for sharing.  I have a video in which I hooked a decent sized bluegill off a dock and a huge bass is chasing it around.  I played with it for a minute or so, but the bass would not strike the bluegill.  I think if it would have been a smaller one, the bass would have committed.  As Koz said, go back and get 'er!

There’s a couple ponds where I work weekends that bass have become trained to do that. It’s pretty wild, I’ve seen them knock the bluegill up onto dry land. On rare occasions you can hook a bluegill with a size 20 zebra midge and when then bass eats it, the hook somehow transfers and you can land the bass. After much experimentation I would say it’s about a 5% success rate but it does happen
