i was curious how people's livewells drained out of the boat. mine appears to just use a stopper. didn't know if this was normal, or what options i have if i want to make an electronic drain. would it be possible to put a fill pump on the drain end? or would water still 'pass' it and empty the tank?

oh ya, and how do most people add oxygen to the tank? recurculate or use an aerator?  after reading some info it seems that aeratation is the best?

thanks

My drains through a hole in the bottom of the live well through the bottom of the transom. There is an overflow tube the keeps the water at a certain level. When I want to empty it I just unscrew it from the bottom.

mine has 2 valves right near the drivers seat...one for each live well.  It says push to fill, pull to empty.  Then I also have an aerator.  Im embarrased to say I haven't really figured out the valve thing.   :-[  It doesn't seem to do what it says, and I just haven't spent the time to figure it out, so I use the aerator and a plug to fill it.   ;D

My B/L trophy has 2 pumps. The inlet pump is small, about 300 gals/hr, and the exhaust pump much larger, at least 600 gals/hr. Both pumps work together. The inlet pump brings outside water in and fills the tank at the bottom of the well, the exhaust pump gets its water from a hole located at the max water level of the tank and dumps it overboard. Hopefully the exhaust pump will always pump out enough water to keep the well from flooding. I do not run the pumps all the time, just enough to keep the water fresh.

My Bass Cat's livewell has 2 plugs in the bottom.  One drains into the back and the bilge pump evacuates the water.  The other drains straight out the back of the boat when it is out of the water.

Push/Pull valve, drain plug for hole in bottom, and two outlets at the top of each to keep it from overflowing. It will still dump water over the top when you take off if they are full.

Just turn the switch to empty on my Tracker and it pumps out the water.
