Super User Further North Posted June 7, 2019 Super User Posted June 7, 2019 Fish a lot. Pay attention to fisherman that are better than you are. That's all it takes... If that doesn't work...DuPont Sinkers... Quote
Glaucus Posted June 7, 2019 Posted June 7, 2019 Right place, right time, and patience. You have to locate the bass, be there at the right time, and be patient and methodical in your fishing. And heck, sometimes you can randomly pick a spot and it doesn't matter what you do or don't do, they eat your bait. 1 Quote
Super User J._Bricker Posted June 7, 2019 Super User Posted June 7, 2019 Happy Birthday @MartinTheFisherman, for starters you have this summer to try and be in the right place, at the right time, to throw the right bait. Good luck in your quest and enjoy the adventures. 1 Quote
Super User WRB Posted June 7, 2019 Super User Posted June 7, 2019 2 lures catch 75% of the PB LMB. #1. Bass jig with craw type trailer. #2. Soft plastic worm rigged weedless with or without a weight. The 25% remaining are caught on everything else. Tom Quote
Super User Fishes in trees Posted June 7, 2019 Super User Posted June 7, 2019 The past couple of years my best big fish bait (over 20" is my standard) has been a 10" worm, closely followed by a brush hog. I'm fishing from my boat. You're fishing from the bank. If it is warm enough to wade, go wading. I'd drop a wacky senko next to the deepest weed lines I could find - and that's all I'd do, over and over. You will get bit. Senkos are all fish baits, they catch little fish, medium fish and big fish. Quote

yosef Posted June 8, 2019 Posted June 8, 2019 Fish pre spawn and have a little luck. The small lures catch big fish too so don’t limit yourself to just massive Swimbait Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted June 12, 2019 Global Moderator Posted June 12, 2019 My PB chased an 8" Zoom lizard to the boat after I'd given up on the retrieve and was reeling in to make another cast. I free spooled the reel as soon as I saw her, she sank out of sight right behind the bait. My line never jumped or moved, but it just stopped sinking after it sank a couple feet down while we were floating over 20 something feet of water so I hammered the hook home. Moral of the story, if you want to catch a PB, you have to always be prepared to catch one because it's going to happen when you least expect it. Quote
