Hard to believe it's been 75 years and the greatest generation is almost gone, my dad included, US Navy, he never talked about it.

A very profound thank you to all who have served. We are forever grateful.

Men brave beyond comprehension. We owe them so much for running into the teeth of such a formidable enemy and surely knowing the odds of survival were not good. Who knows how different things might be now if not for them.

Including my Uncle Jim. Platoon Sgt. 101st Airborne Division. 

Who crashed landed in a glider and died behind German lines on the first night.

Going through grade school & high school, we were taught about D-Day but never really understood what the soldiers went through.  Then I saw the opening scene from "Saving Private Ryan" as a thirty-something and was astonished.  Using that portion of the film to help illustrate what occurred would be very effective.

To hear about it and learn about it in school is one thing, but to actually hear the stories from those that survived the landing really opens your eyes.
