Motor Question

I have been told to buy a transom saver so I did, I was wondering when driving down the street I notice that my motor turns to the side.  Is that a problem and if so should I some how strap my motor so it doesn't turn while driving down the road.

Does your transom saver have a strap that goes around the outboard?  Mine does, and I would assume that helps keep it from turning.  I've heard that there is some kind of lock you can put on the boat that keeps the outboard from turning, I have no idea how much it would cost or where it goes, though.

As SB23 said you should have two little holes near the V-notch where the lower unit rests. A black rubber bungee cord straped around it should take care of it turning.

I have had a motor or two that did that very thing with cable steering.  I used a bungy on the steering wheel to keep it from turning.

What DMB above says is right.  However, sometimes those straps are not very tight.  I had an outboard hop out of the transom saver after hitting an unexpected pothole. Snapped the transom saver right off.  The motor dropped and spun around and the throttle handle took the head right off a transom mounted  trolling motor.  

Needless to say I strap my motor to the transom saver real good and tight now.  Bunge from lifting handle across lower unit to other handle.  Not a problem since.

On long trips or if I don't get the motor down tight enough on the transom saver the end of the transom saver that sits on the first roller on the boat will always move an inch or two to the right on the roller.
