Age 5. Well, maybe 4 because the trip I remember was the summer of 1955 before school started. Okay, we'll call it age 5 because the trip would have been, at the very earliest, just two weeks before my birthday and the first day of school.

Nightcrawlers, catfish, etc. Cleaned them and cooked them over a fire and I was hooked.

I was about 6 when I started.  My aunt and uncle have lived on a canal off of Lake St Clair since the late 70s.  I started out with the classic Zebco spincaster, bobber, and worm and within a couple of years I was throwing crankbaits and soft plastics around the docks catching pike and largemouth.  I still go over there to fish a few times per year.

Tom, Mick and scbassin all have me beat.  66 years here.  Had a 23 year hiatus.  Only because of how bad the fishing was in the area I moved to...and still live in.  Wish I had some pics to share.

About 35 years. I started fishing creeks and farm ponds. As a teenager organized sports interrupted fishing. Today I have little to show for the years spent playing football and running track. But I have very fond memories of fishing. Now my sons fish often. I didn’t catch my first bass until I was 11 years old, but my kids caught bass before they were 6. Organized athletics hasn’t competed with their desire to fish. If the bite is on, then my kids can’t be pulled away from the water. I’ll fan the flames of fishing in the hope that they keep it up into manhood.

Took my first blugill, under the I80 bridge over the Hennipen Canal in Bureau County IL, in early may 1982.

I was 5 years old and caught it on a worm, threaded on a  #8 hook, under a Thill bobber. Funny I remember that  but dont remember the rod and reel combo.

LOL...too much water everywhere else?

If you look North from that bridge, that is the family farm I spent most of my summer on.

You ever fish the strip mines there West of Shefield IL? I caught my PB several times, in those mines.

My beloved Vermillion is finally almost back to normal water levels. Fishing was good today and yesterday.

I'm 30 now and have been fishing ever since I can remember with my dad. I remember being about 10 or so and my brother being 13/14 and my dad would pick us up and bring us to a private pond right next to his work where we knew the owners and people who worked there. We would fish all day until he came and picked us up. We had a little like 10-12ft Jon boat. Caught some really nice bass (5-6lbs). Now my brother is a charter boat captain.

I was probably 4 or 5 when my grandpa took me fishing so 41-42 years?

About 50 years. Can still remember a local pond that is now all dried up that my dad and Grandpa would take me to. Really started fishing more when I was in the 8th grade when my brother caught a 3 lb Bass from a small lake just behind my house. From that moment on, it was always trying to gather enough cash to get Mann's motor oil or purple jelly worms.
