johnkook73 Posted July 3, 2007 Posted July 3, 2007 Anyone tried these? http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?storeId=10151&catalogId=10001&langId=-1&partNumber=83936&hvarTarget=search&cmCat=SearchResults If you have what kind of results have you had with them. Quote
soccplayer07 Posted July 3, 2007 Posted July 3, 2007 I have tried them a few times recently with no success. I have been disappointed every time. They seem to get hung up very easily. I was fishing it more like a jig which could be the problem. Just my opinion. Good luck. Quote
GrapeTown707 Posted July 3, 2007 Posted July 3, 2007 I have seen my friend pull some pretty good fish out with this several times. Quote
Ky_Lake_Dude Posted July 3, 2007 Posted July 3, 2007 I don't like them because the wire on the head that holds the blade on will come loose and you'll be reeling in and have only a blade on the end of your line. You would probably be better off with a Gambler Swim Blade or the RAD Lures Chatterbait. Tanner Quote
New Bass Man Posted July 3, 2007 Posted July 3, 2007 I make my own boogee-type baits. I have good success with boogee type baits in situation where I would throw a spinnerbait and some situations where I would throw a crankbait. I think making your own will produce better results than the store bought ones. The trick is to come up with colors that work in your area. I can tell you I have much better success with the ones I make than I ever did with the ones I bought. Quote
Super User dodgeguy Posted July 3, 2007 Super User Posted July 3, 2007 i've caught fish on them.they have their time and place.i find an eratic retrieve is better than just reeling them in. Quote
c17Lat Posted July 4, 2007 Posted July 4, 2007 I caught one on a chart/white one on the potomac river the first time i used it. I had three hookups within 40 minutes but only landed one. i was just pulling it in with my rod then letting it fall while i reel in the slack. i mostly pull with the rod instead of just reeling it in just so i can feel it if it gets caught on weeds Quote
Super User Sam Posted July 4, 2007 Super User Posted July 4, 2007 I have one of these type baits but have not thrown it. I have a number of Chatterbaits which have been productive. My only problem with the Chatterbait is with the hook sharpness. Now I sharpen the hooks on all Chatterbaits before using them. How sharp are the hooks on the Chatterbait take-offs? Quote
armesjr Posted July 4, 2007 Posted July 4, 2007 i have fished with them a couple times, and i have only caught one fish. I will throw it out there if nothing else is producing but usually dont have any luck with them. Quote
phase5supply Posted July 4, 2007 Posted July 4, 2007 I have caught fish on color 89 & 90 in dark water. I have been throwing them under docks, seem to catch more while it is falling than when retrieving. Quote
Super User .dsaavedra. Posted July 4, 2007 Super User Posted July 4, 2007 ive got two chatterbaits, one is black/blue the other white/red and ive thrown each out a few times w/ absolutely no success...i still havent fished them enough to get a conclusion on them... Quote
Super User Marty Posted July 5, 2007 Super User Posted July 5, 2007 I've used Boogee Baits, but have given up on them, at least for the time being. They are excellent fish attractors, but this spring I lost almost 50% of my strikes. I don't know if the reason is the Leverage hook system, but I've lost confidence in it. If it had a rigid hook it would be my bait of choice, as it is better made with better components than the Chatterbait. As to the Boogee and Chatter, I can't see a difference in the number of the strikes that they draw. The Gambler Swim Blade is also good and well made, but it has a wilder and more erratic action than the others, and is more buoyant, thus it can't be worked as fast without jumping out of the water. johnkook73 Posted July 5, 2007 Author Posted July 5, 2007 Thanks for the input guys. I do have some chatterbaits but really havent used them enough to give my opinion yet. I might try it this Friday morning, finally have a day off from work!!! Quote
shortbasser Posted July 5, 2007 Posted July 5, 2007 They have produced for me. I use the Chartreuse/White (Limesicle). Fish it pretty slow like a spinner bait. Best catch on it was last week. Nice 5 lb. fish that really nailed it. At times fish will just swim off with it and you might miss a strike. I have found that if the vibration stops.......Set the hook. Shortbasser Quote
Mobydick Posted July 5, 2007 Posted July 5, 2007 I try one from time to time. Only caught 2 on it though. I've heard of people loosing fish on them, :-/ but ummm, I wouldn't know because i've only ever had 1 other bite. Quote
J_Young Posted July 6, 2007 Posted July 6, 2007 I had picked up a few of these a while ago, and fished them quite a few times. I have never had so much as a strike on these. I've fished them fast, slow, stop and go. Nothing. I was very disappointed with them Quote
New Bass Man Posted July 6, 2007 Posted July 6, 2007 Couple of guys catching them on chatterbaits: Quote
