I’m confident that the BR community has addressed this before, but when should an extra fast action casting rod be used, and what lures would you use with it? Feel free to answer or direct me to a thread.

XF is a relative term since there is no industry standard.

Most will say that they use them for jigs and soft plastics.

Exactly!  Jigs, plastics, frogs, basically anything with a single hook where a hard hook set is ieal.

My flipping stick is my only xf rod. Xf heavy to ram those hooksets home and turn the pigs head asap to get them out of whatever they are in. Combined with 65 lb sufix 832 braid it's great for that.

All of my rods are extra fast except my spinnerbait, buzzbait, chatterbait rods.

Used to be the same for me as well but now the only XF I use is for heavy flipping. I prefer more tip on all other presentations to aid in skipping and loading rod when casting. Hook sets or feel haven't suffered so I'm happy

I have a 6' 2" XF Avid I use for poppers. I can really work them great with that rod, making them spit and walk better than any other rod I've had.
