Alec McMillan Posted June 1, 2019 Posted June 1, 2019 I'm thinking about getting new tackle boxes and rearranging my tackle. Wondering what boxes y'all use. I currently have Plano Waterproof StowAway boxes. I have been looking at the new Plano Rustrictor Box, which I like. Quote
Tizi Posted June 1, 2019 Posted June 1, 2019 I really like my Cabelas Advanced Angler Tackle bag... 3 Quote
Ksam1234 Posted June 1, 2019 Posted June 1, 2019 I use the regular Plano or waterproof , rust Free ones look nice but you can just buy the rust free technology pads you place inside your normal boxes. Then you can keep them waterproof ones and rust free 1 Quote
Super User Log Catcher Posted June 1, 2019 Super User Posted June 1, 2019 I still use a hard style Plano 9606 tackle box. I really like it but they are getting hard to find. Quote
Sam Janssen Posted June 2, 2019 Posted June 2, 2019 I really like the waterproof plano boxes, they are about 10-12 a box but definitely worth it. Quote
Glaucus Posted June 2, 2019 Posted June 2, 2019 Plano trays and a waterproof backpack. I also have a little Plano handbag that I use for Senkos, Trick Worms, TRDs, Ned Heads and hooks for when I'm taking a spinning rod and going on foot to finesse some numbers. Quote
Super User Jrob78 Posted June 2, 2019 Super User Posted June 2, 2019 I use these and tackle bags. 2 Quote
Super User MN Fisher Posted June 2, 2019 Super User Posted June 2, 2019 Plano Prolatch 3600 size - various styles. Hard tackle goes in a Cabela's Advanced Angler bag (6 boxes), soft baits go into a Plano Weekender (4 boxes) Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted June 2, 2019 Global Moderator Posted June 2, 2019 Plano Hydro Flo and Plano Rustrictor boxes for me. Quote
AlTheFisherman313 Posted June 2, 2019 Posted June 2, 2019 I actually use a spider wire backpack, with 10 planos stored improperly in the bag ? i also carry a soft bag for my plastics/if I’m running to shore fish and it’s a walk I grab a couple planos and throw them in the soft bag too and go fish! I prefer trays, you can get a 10$ duffel bag at Walmart and literally carry 10+ Plano boxes cheaper than you could ever get a tackle box for. Plus trays allow you to travel light. If It’s windy and the water is rough you could pull your popper box out or vise versa you see top water crazy grab the soft bag throw some topwaters, spinners, plastics and you should be money. Also I should mention I’m a multi species angler, so I have some boxes that are hybrids like pike/bass. I recommend organizing lures off depth or fishing style. Makes things easier on yourself. Quote
LCG Posted June 2, 2019 Posted June 2, 2019 Plano 3601 thin boxes or Plano double sided tackle boxes. Keeps weight down but still offers enough to keep a variety of soft plastics and lures to choose from. 1 Quote

I use these for storing all of my tackle at home, but when fishing, I use a double sided 3450 in my chest pack. I pack lightly since I fish primarily from the bank or in waders so being mobile is a must. Quote
Manly Studson Posted June 3, 2019 Posted June 3, 2019 Plano 3650 ProLatch boxes stuffed in a cheap backpack (bank fishing) or in a crate (kayak fishing). Quote
gilkeybr Posted June 3, 2019 Posted June 3, 2019 I use the water-proof Flambeau 5000 series boxes. After getting store-brand boxes for several years and having them break too easily, I started using the Flambeaus. They can take a beating and you don't have to worry about cracking as much as the store brand boxes. Quote
Hook2Jaw Posted June 3, 2019 Posted June 3, 2019 Plano 3771s coming in at 1 1/2" thick stores a lot of tackle and doesn't take up as much space as the 3700s. 1 Quote
MAN Posted June 3, 2019 Posted June 3, 2019 I have been slowly getting away from the plano 3600 3700 style boxes and going back to the old school 2-3 tray designs. Currently looking for an all metal design. I got tired of latches breaking, latches not closing, hinges breaking, hooks jumping dividers, plastic fading yellowing and cracking. Quote
yosef Posted June 3, 2019 Posted June 3, 2019 Once I got back into fishing I found myself with boxes full of tackle and needed to reprganize so I could bring more tackle with me and not struggle to find what I was looking for. I use Plano boxes , I think they’re Plano 3771 but not sure they are the custom divider boxes And they fit perfect in the tackle bag I have . I think I can fit about 10 of those sizes and then a few smaller ones. Quote
Super User Bankbeater Posted June 3, 2019 Super User Posted June 3, 2019 For years I was using a Plano box for fishing off of the bank, but last year one of the hinges gave out. This is my first year using a BPS 3600 bag. No complaints, but in my old box I knew where everything was. I’ll probably be reorganizing this new bag for a few seasons Quote
r83srock Posted June 4, 2019 Posted June 4, 2019 I also like my Cabelas advanced angler large bag. It’s really not that big and I carry what I need for the day. I have 5 of the ultra thin Plano 3600 style boxes, a small spinner bait box, and the small KVD worm bag in it. I use it in my boat and anyone else’s and is still small enough to carry for shore fishing, although I prefer to throw a few boxes in a backpack for that. It’s pretty waterproof too. It’s been a great tournament bag. Quote
waymont Posted June 4, 2019 Posted June 4, 2019 Plano 3600 boxes in the Cabelas Angler bag. I also bought a water proof cover for the bag that's designed to go over backpacks for hikers that I bring in case of rain. Works great. Quote
Super User WRB Posted June 4, 2019 Super User Posted June 4, 2019 My boat is the tackle box with dozens of Plano boxes of various sizes, none are air tight. Soft tackle bags to hold my bulk soft plastics in zip lock bages. Keep my swimbaits in modified hard plastic food storage containers. I label all boxes so I know what is what plus they are transparent. Try to keep everything as organized as possible so I know where to look for whatever is needed. The boat storage lockers are water proof. I drilled 1/8" D holes in the Plano lids decades ago, air prevents corrosion and rain isn't an issue in SoCal. Tom Quote
Daniel Abram Posted June 4, 2019 Posted June 4, 2019 This is what I have and love it. Great for bank fishing and great on the boat as well. Had 2 tackle bags and put it in this with plenty of room for more https://redgills.net Quote
Gorris317 Posted June 4, 2019 Posted June 4, 2019 This is what I use. It comes with two 3700 boxes and I purchased a deep box that holds all my plastics. Had for about 3 years now and still looks brand new. Quote
