I've never been a big jig guy. Most of my jig fishing is done with Bitsy Bugs for river SMB. This season so far I've been stuck in the ponds due to flooding and I'm killing it with jig n craws. It feels more natural than it ever has when it comes to fishing them, feeling the subtle bites, and hammering the hook home. It's so much fun setting a jig hook and muscling in LMB from the nasties. I never thought I would prefer a jig to a Texas Rigged worm.

Meant to put this is tackle, not rods. Sorry.

Now you can combine the two for a deadly 1-2 punch!

The only two rods I keep on the deck 24/7/365 ?

I'm no jig expert but I do like them. You almost never lose a fish on a jig.

This is the first year I have caught a fish on a jig. Caught 2 early spring but haven't thrown it much since. I would really like to start catching more fish using this lure but the confidence just isn't there.

The only constant in my boat year round everywhere I go is I have a jig on deck. I've saved the day and cashed a few checks when I've been struggling and just picked up a jig and never put it back down. For me it's not usually a numbers deal but when I need a big bite nothing else compares in my opinion.  I believe it works coast to coast from 40 degrees to 90. Glad to hear its come together for ya itll only grow from there!

It doesn't matter what condition it is, water clarity, depth, weather, I've got some type of jig tied on.

Spring I absolutely slay em on craw imitation jigs. Come post-spawn I'm dragging a mop jig on breaks / ledges looking for those tired, hungry females. All summer long I'm either swimming a jig or dragging bottom.

Do I catch most of my fish on jigs? Nope. I'd say a spinnerbait produces 70%+ of my fish. But I'll be damned if catching them on a jig isn't more enjoyable than on a spinner.

I can't remember the last time I didn't have a jig and a texas rig on the deck.

I picked it up at the beginning of 2018 and said I was not going to ever take it off again. I fished it every time out since and caught something on it all but maybe 3 trips. I got a couple fish over 6 lbs on it too. One was 6.92.

During my first day of actual, dedicated jig fishing, I caught my personal best.  While I hardly ever drag them as much as I used to, I spend a lot of time pitching them into the jungle and wrenching out those reaction biters.  There's not much better than jacking a jaw off a stump or out of a laydown and skiing one to me.

No matter the season, I always have a jig tied on. I'd say it's probably my most productive bait.

So far this year the jig bite has been slow around here.  Usually, it's my top bait, but not this year.  I'm hoping that the bite will pick up on the summer trip.

I bass fished for over 10 years before I threw a jig.  I just didn't have the confidence or knowledge to effectively fish one.  Now, I can't imagine not using one.  It isn't often my first choice, but a jig sure has saved the day for me many, many times.  My personal best was caught last summer with a jig right below my feet from underneath a pontoon.  This year, I started making my own with the Do-It Poisontail mold.  I've found it to be a versatile jig that does well swimming, ripping, or bottom dragging.

When it clicks... lookout now! A buddy of mine had never caught one on the jig before, even though I had given him a couple over the years. He just couldn't stay with it and would always go back to plastics. We went out fishing one day and I saw a perfect rock to bank transition that had jig written all over it. I fired that sucker out (99.99% of the time I have one tied on) and after a couple of pops, I felt that tell tale "Thud" with the jig that is so intoxicating. Inspired by what he just witnessed, he finds a new found confidence and ties one on. After a half hour of no bites (credit to him for staying with it) his confidence and interest wanes and mentions he's over it. I tell him I'll start fishing the jig again (I had put it down for another lure) to "fire up the jig mojo" and see if we could get bit. Well, we (HE) sure did! My friend was watching my father fight a fish and I noticed his line "swimming" and thought it an incredibly odd light bite for a jig. Told old boy to set the hook and that rod doubled over! Up comes a 5+ pound Bass, the biggest of the day by far. Confidence was at an all time high and cemented the next trip when we both had about a dozen fish each fishing the jig on and off all day. We now have a saying between us; Its all about that THUD!

Same here! I’ve been at it for a few years now and have had limited success with jigs. This late winter/early spring it just clicked.

I think the majority of my problem was tempo and cast accuracy. I am always in a rush to hit every target and every spot on the lake. I’ve learned to slow down, read the water/structure, and positioning my kayak properly before casting at it, making accurate casts/flips, and fishing targets thoroughly. Sometimes that 4th or 5th pitch/flip in the same spot gets the bite.

Caught my first two jig fish this year. I would throw it every once in a while and never had luck. Been fishing plastics lately but now I'm think I should go back and see what happens. What do you guys normally throw for trailers?

I am no jig expert but I like a Zoom Ultra Vibe Speed Craw or a Twin Tail Grub for a trailer.

Rage Craw is my favorite trailer

I think I have won more tournaments on a jig than all other baits combined. You need 3 trailers  for jigs; do nothing like a zoom chunk, action like a rage craw of chigger craw, and a double tail grub.
