moved into my house, and a HUGE fishing rod was left behind by previous residents. i searched everywhere online for the brand, serial number, etc. the brand says HI with triangles on the north and south side of the word HI. also printed, "made in u.s.a" "72" (assuming the year) "975-90"(assuming the serial number) and "9'" (assuming the length). looking for what its worth, maybe what the use is for. if someone could help me id appreciate it tremendously. i will try to post pictures to help

The manufacturer is Horrocks-Ibbotson.  Likely a fly rod,  but perhaps trolling or surf caster etc..  A picture of the handle would narrow down your search.

i didnt think it was a fly rod because it has the line guides all the way up the pole, and i could be wrong but i thought fly rods only had one at the end.. like i said i could be wrong, im not the top notch angler, some of you folk might though. here is a picture of the handle, and the rest of the pole. thanks for your help!

Definitely not a fly rod due to the handle length. Looks more like a surf spinning rod, they are usually quite long to allow for long casts from the shore.

I think Bhoff has nailed it. Guides say spinning rod, length and

size of the rod say surf caster.
