Small Swimbait Shoutout

   I picked up some Cabela's 3.5" Swimbaits last time out at Bass Pro and was truly impressed with the kicking action of tail on a very slow retrieve or just letting it fall on a slack line. Using a 1/8oz. darter style head. 

 

  What other "smaller size" swimbaits that take no effort to get tail kicking and heads do you guys like ?

Those look exactly like the Big Bite Baits. Glad that you like it so much.

I really like the Missile baits Shockwaves!  In the fishalicous color.

The smaller size YUM Pulse swimbait is great. I can literally watch my line "pulsing" from the tail thumping while the bait is sinking when it's calm out, a lot of times it will be interrupted by a sharp "jump" on the way down though

 

I fish them on one of my 1/8oz heads from the Midwest Finesse mold with a 1/0 hook.

Small Rage swimmers got a great thump. I rig it t rigged and peg the sinker.

I second the Yum Pulse 3.5. Haven't had a ton if time using it but has worked well by itself or as a spinnerbait trailer. 

 

Berkley Grass Pig Jr on a small swim jig has been good to me in the past too.

Just tried some 3" keitech easy shiners and really like them so far. I like the shape and colors of them more so than the ribbed types like swing impacts.

Another one that I have had great success with is the P-Line Kick-R minnow in 4". I would say as far as kick it is between the Keitech Easy Shad and Fat Impact. Caught a lot of fish in clear water using it as a swim jig trailer or on a Owner 5/32oz weighted swim jig head.

B Fish'n Pulse-R has the best tail movement at slow speeds that I've seen.  They get their tails bit off often, though.  The Berkley Grass Pig Jr is a pretty good and inexpensive small paddle tail.

I just started experimenting with small swimbaits, and these have been great for me. Bonus is that they are a Virginia company, and I like to keep things local.

I caught my PB largemouth a few summers ago on one under matted grass.  I usually fish them weightless on a screwlock hook, swim them then kill it and let it fall they usually kill it on the fall.  For some reason the places I fish I have better luck with the Missile baits than say a Keitech.

Y’all are gonna think I’m crazy, which I might be, but I enjoy using Swim Senkos and have had success with them. 

 

I’ll put it on a jig head and swim it. When I met Gary Yamamoto he suggested to use it pitching and flipping.

I like a hand poured 4in. Keitech  knock off from a guy out of OK. That section just before the boot is a little thinner than the Keitech and that thing really thumps on the retrieve.  Every now and then, an overly aggressive bluegill will pull the tail off, but loosing a soft bait occasionally is part of the game.

Were the tails on those jacked up being packaged like that? Trying to find quality paddle tails like these that don't come with a half pack of garbage due to out of place tails from packaging.

+1 ... The YUM 3.5" Pulse swim bait is very under rated ! I also found out that the SO (sponsor)  standard or XL Midwest Finesse jig heads in 1/16th to 3/16h oz. with  #1 or 1/0 Owner hooks are outstanding (great color selection too !) ... For the FAT Swing Impact 2.8" I like the standard size Midwest Finesse jig head in 1/16th oz. to 3/16th oz. and the #1 size Owner hook ... Best jig heads going for small size swim baits !

2" Eurotackle B-Vibe in green pumpkin is my go to "smaller size" swimbait I fish them on a small darter jighead.

I keep two. Swim Senko and Rage Swimmer. Jighead, keel weighted hook, bare hook, T-rigged; there is no wrong way to fish them.
