Anyone come up with a decent rubber, or poly rod tie down that doesn't pull apart after 6 months? I don't have room for fancy retractable strap arrangements.  I had two really good rubber types for years and last winter the mice invaded my boat (outdoor storage) and ate through them and I had them for so many years I cannot remember where the heck I bought them.  In looking around it appears they are all poly now and pull apart in short order.

Well, not certain what you'd anchor these to on your boat deck, but I find these rubberized wire gear ties to be indispensable and good for about a thousand uses . . . and still counting.

What is great about them is just a single twist does the trick for most applications; so, they make for a super fast release, too. I usually have a few just hanging off my kayak's seat to grab if I want to secure something very quickly.

They come in different lengths. If not for your purpose, great to have around a boat.

Looks hand to have a round, but not sure I could figure how to secure to the deck.

Would a screw eye or two not be an option?

These  devices shown work great to wrap the braid around them, fasten them to your belt loop, and the line for tying the FG knot is secure without biting the line.  and in a better position for tying than out front of your eyes.

I have these and they are going on 2 years without any problems.  I do remember reading about all the things you and others have trouble with when I settled on these, so I installed them so that there is minimal stretch when they are holding the rods, and I don't leave them stretched between outings, etc.

??TheRodFather, man, you broke the code.  This is exactly what I was looking for and exactly what the mice ate, but I do not know where in the heck I bought them, but am now suspecting it was at dearly departed Boater's World and boy do I miss them.  Thanks again.  I have already ordered two.
