Weedless Posted May 23, 2019 Posted May 23, 2019 I never installed a FF, however, I am very good with wiring/soldering and electrical systems concepts. Just a few simple basic questions. 1. Do you normally get power from cranking battery or the trolling motor battery's (2 in my case, obviosuly only hook to on for 12V since I am assuming connected in series to get 24V for my 24V TM)? 2. Can you "tap in" to an existing FF wires to get the 12V or is that too much interference? 3. What is the trim power usually connected to, cranking batt? 4. Mounting at bow, drill mount into carpetted wood floor or the top of the fiberglass boat (I hope wood is correct)? Thanks in advance!! Quote
Super User Tennessee Boy Posted May 23, 2019 Super User Posted May 23, 2019 1) Cranking battery or a separate battery. Never a trolling motor battery, that can cause interference. 2) Not sure exactly what you are asking. You don't want two FF using one fuse. You also don't want two units wired in series with the battery. It's a good idea to connect each FF to a power panel. Most boats have a panel under the console and under the deck at the bow. 3) Yes cranking battery 4) I think that's mostly personal preference. I have always mounted mine on the floor. Always check to make sure you're not drilling into something important (like wiring) 1 Quote
