It’s looking like my southern Alabama trip is going to be a little warm this year

Maybe the 1mph breeze and only 93% humidity will make it better........ we are tent camping too haha

I never ate at a western sizzler, I believe it was because my mother despised it. Are they still around? I have used click bait and hijacked my own thread

Haven't seen a Sizzler (nor a Ponderosa) in years.  Maybe the All You Can Eat Buffet business model in the US had some flaws?

Then again,  Golden Corral still makes it work

Those temperatures remind me of cutting weight for wrestling ...

The times I had to wear a neoprene suit, riding an exercise bike in the sauna

I'm sure the mosquitos are tiny and tame too

There are still quite a few Sizzlers in Southrn California, but not as many as from their heyday in the '80s.

The current ones are nice, but more expensive than they used to be.  Instead of being a fast food style place to get a steak, they have repositioned themselves as a poormans Black Angus.

Yes sir will do! We usually fish until about 9 am and don’t go back out until 4-5. Lots of sunscreen and bug spray, then there’s all the poison ivy and fire ants and world record alligators......... literally........

15’9” and 1100 lbs. That thing would run @Kozright out of Hilton head!

I knew gators were big but dang! Hope you post a report or two.

Absolutely! Although it may have to be when I return. Cell service is spotty at best down there where time stopped 60 years ago

As Mike Iaconelli would say, “That’s a biggun’!”

I’m actually moving north a bit to the Greenville area in a month or so. I will miss the thousands of fishing lagoons in my current area, but I won’t miss the alligators. I might even take up kayaking now!

Golden Corral>Sizzler

Send that heat up here and I'll send you the additional half a foot of rain we're supposed to get the next few days to go with the 10" of rain we've got the last week?

I got back into town yesterday afternoon and was jonesing to fish so despite the heat I went out there for about 45 minutes. Even at 5 pm it was still 95 degrees out there.

It's going to be a hundred out there the next few days but I might try and get in some early evening fishing if I don't melt first.

It was 100 here yesterday. It hasn’t rained but a little bit in May. Fire season !

As for the Western sizzlin’s, the toughest steak I ever had was there. I think they had run out of meat that day and threw a saddle on there!!!

Every time I see this thread title I want to order a New York medium rare, with a loaded baked potato, the all you can eat salad bar, and a couple pieces of Texas toast. And THIS is after I already knowing this topic has absolutely NOTHING to do with a restaurant that serves seared bovine flesh.... just wanted to say thanks @TnRiver46 ?

Why?

We don't have any Golden Corral's around here, so I know nothing about what makes them good (or why they would be better than Sizzler's).

The Sizzlers in Southern California appear to be franchises, but apparently the franchisee's have a lot of leeway as far as how to run their restaurant.  We have a very nice one, well run, clean with good food here in Lake Forest, but I have been to other ones not too far away that were pretty lousy.
