I am about to give my '97 Express a make-over and was thinking of just skipping the radio during the refit.  My son thinks its cool to crank the tunes just as my line hits the water which may explain my catch count this year.

We fish mostly small electric lakes so its not like we have long runs to get to the fishing holes...

Anyone else use a radio on the water?

I depend on my hearing to detect fish activity away from the direction I am looking. I have gotten into some fantastic schooling action because I heard them splashing 100 or more yards away. One of my best 100+ bass days was a result of that happening. Just yesterday, bass were jumping when trying to catch dragon flies and numerous times I heard it, looked around to see where, moved quickly to the area and caught the bass. There are a lot of occasions where hearing the splashing of bass chasing food has lead me to some large size bass and numbers of bass.

No thanks, I prefer hear the sounds of nature.

Here in Tennessee, loud Country Music is considered a "bass attractant".

I go fishing to get away from things like the radio.  Of course, a little Patsy Cline makes any day a little better.
