GoneFishingLTN Posted May 22, 2019 Posted May 22, 2019 I’ve read his book and about everything I can find on the internet. Just curious if he was mainly a basic bait man or did he use jerkbaits? Deep diving crankbaits? If anyone can give me some insight on how everything he did meaning was you super versatile or just use everything you would for shallow fishing? Quote
Heartland Posted May 22, 2019 Posted May 22, 2019 Whenever I hear the name Denny Brauer I always associate it with jig fishing. 4 Quote

Super User Catt Posted May 22, 2019 Super User Posted May 22, 2019 Like any Pro angler Denny is quite versatile, he's won tournaments fishing deep structure & has won using square bills. 2 Quote
GReb Posted May 22, 2019 Posted May 22, 2019 I still have some old school Strike King Denny Bauer flipping tubes at the house. One of the good guys Quote
Super User bowhunter63 Posted May 23, 2019 Super User Posted May 23, 2019 Had the pleasure of meeting him at FLW Quad City tournament. A great guy and a Ambassadeur of our sport. The king of flipping jigs for sure. Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted May 26, 2019 Global Moderator Posted May 26, 2019 I believe he won his Classic in '98 primarily flipping a tube. I had the pleasure of meeting him when I worked at Cabela's. He's always been one of my favorites and I really enjoyed talking to him. I've heard he can be a little short with folks but wasn't the case when I talked to him. He's also a very skilled squarebill fisherman and most any other shallow water technique. Quote
OnthePotomac Posted May 26, 2019 Posted May 26, 2019 The poor guy has spent a lot of his life in pain and I believe has had more than one back surgery. 2 Quote
Super User scaleface Posted May 26, 2019 Super User Posted May 26, 2019 I remember he pulled a tourney win out of the hat with a late surge using a crankbait . 1 Quote
Heartland Posted May 26, 2019 Posted May 26, 2019 A few years back I fished Amistad with some friends. We spent a little over a week in Del Rio. He had a home on the lake back then, and we would often see him around town. Nearly every morning he would beat us to the ramp and when we were through for the day his rig was still in the lot. That guy puts some serious time on the water. 1 Quote

He was a bricklayer before he was a fisherman. I think that's why he had a lot of his back problems. Quote
Super User Jigfishn10 Posted May 29, 2019 Super User Posted May 29, 2019 In this book, he talks about an assortment of lures he uses and techniques/patterns on where to use them. As mentioned above, he did like crankbait fishing. Quote
Super User J Francho Posted May 29, 2019 Super User Posted May 29, 2019 Denny is an all time favorite of mine. Jigs, T-rigs, and crankbaits are what I associate him with. Quote
