bayvalle Posted May 22, 2019 Posted May 22, 2019 What is your favorite rage tail bait for millfoil? Today I did well with flukes and decided to try the rage tail cut R. The Cut R got some interest but no hookups. I like the tail on the Rage Recon Worm and Rage Shad. I'm considering picking up a pack of the Recon Worm and wondered if anybody has have any experience with this? Quote
CroakHunter Posted May 22, 2019 Posted May 22, 2019 My favorite is the magnum rage bug, then the menace, then craw. Haven't used the worms. 2 Quote
Global Moderator Mike L Posted May 22, 2019 Global Moderator Posted May 22, 2019 I use Rage plastics more than any other single companies products. My favoites are: Cut R Bug Recon Craw Mike 1 Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted May 22, 2019 Global Moderator Posted May 22, 2019 Depends if you're trying to fish over, through, or around it. 1 Quote
HenryPF Posted May 22, 2019 Posted May 22, 2019 My go to rage bait - Rage shad with 3/0 hook weightless. There is something about the way it swim, spits water and vibrates that I love. Short strikes not my favorite as the tail can ripped off easily. Strike King Rage Twin Tail Menace Grub - seems to be gaining popularity as a trailer but I use it with t-rig and it does just fine as a compact presentation. For some reason the carp love this thing. Super User roadwarrior Posted May 22, 2019 Super User Posted May 22, 2019 All the Rage Tail baits could be used for fishing vegetation. I would start with the Structure Bug. 2 1 Quote
Super User bowhunter63 Posted May 22, 2019 Super User Posted May 22, 2019 Cutter worm works reallly good. Quote
Super User Choporoz Posted May 22, 2019 Super User Posted May 22, 2019 @bayvalle, how were you rigging it? I dont know why, but I cant hook up cutr reliably without wide gap. Despite the relatively slender profile 9f the worm, I do much better with ewg....and best with belly weighted ewg...even if only 1/16 oz. I generally have a cutr and a bug rigged if in or around any grass or weeds. (Note also that both of those baits will get attention from bluegills) 1 Quote
airborneduckhunter Posted May 22, 2019 Posted May 22, 2019 Structure Bug is my absolute favorite. Just curious as to why you would want to switch to something else when what you are using is cashing fish?I aam a huge fluke fan. I have tried many different styles of soft plastic jerkbaits, but I never can find anything that compares to the fluke. Just my personal experience though. Quote

Any Ragetail bait on a heavy Jika rig is money in milfoil, if you're trying to penetrate the thick stuff. I make my own, using heavy flipping hooks, split rings, and 3/4 to 1.5 oz. pencil weights made for trolling. I like Rage Craws and Lobsters the best. It works: 2 Quote
The Maestro Posted May 22, 2019 Posted May 22, 2019 I was big on pitching Rage Craws, t-rigged or on the back of a jig in milfoil. I'll still use them but I've gotten more into subtle baits. Quote

boostr Posted May 22, 2019 Posted May 22, 2019 Chunks Craws Menace Bug I have better luck with Zoom worm baits than the Rage Tail, and I love my Rage Tail baits. Maybe it's a confidence thing. Quote

I have used the Big O's Eeliminator which is similar to the Rage Shad and had good results. I'm fishing a lake so thick with millfoil that I need to keep the bait on top or even the knot gets gunked.Topwater flukes like the Zman have been the best producer. 20 hours ago, Mike L said: I use Rage plastics more than any other single companies products. I use 14lb Sniper 3/16 weight. I rig tail down on a texposed 4/0 skip gap hook. 99% of the time I swim it. All other presentations are tail up. Also, I leave the tab connected to the body after taking it off the tail. Mike 1 Quote
