The_Mad_Fisherman Posted June 11, 2008 Posted June 11, 2008 What's your take on the Humminbird SI units? I want a 997c SI unit, but I really can't afford it. I only have about $1100 to spend. So I was looking into the 987c SI, which has the same size screen. Does anyone know anything about these units? Is the 987c SI any good. I really can't see the difference between the two, but tell me what you know. THANKS!!! Quote
acar555 Posted June 14, 2008 Posted June 14, 2008 The 987c is a first generation SI unit. It has a 7" screen compared to the 997c 8" screen.. The 987 operated off of 262 khz and 455 khz frequencies. The 997c uses 455 and 800 with modified cone angles for improved performance. Cabela's just put the 997 on sale for $150 off. The 987 is still a good unit but the 997 did make some improvements. surfer Posted June 16, 2008 Posted June 16, 2008 I found a 997c used for $1200. The guy was buying the newest model and selling his 997 that was a year old. Check around on lots of different forums and you might find one. Quote
