they look awful and probably perform even worse. the sad thing is they will literally sell out everywhere they are sold

I think Favorite’s problem is that they are trying to tackle the entire spectrum of consumers. They make a few “higher end” products (I’ve heard a couple of their pricier rods are actually pretty good), but they 1) fall short of the performance of other products in that price range and 2) make too many junk budget products aimed at the Guy Fieri types and 14 year old Googan idolizing teens.

Even if they made the best reel in the world, guys who can buy the former won’t, because they refuse to take them seriously due to the latter.

I guarantee they don’t care, though. Those kids are making them filthy rich. They’ll continue to make stupid looking flame reels because someone keeps buying them.

At $80 there are a ton of better options out there. Especially if you factor in $100+ reels that can be found on sale for $70-$80 (Fuego, Lew's LFS, etc)

The paint job should help them sell quite a few.

It will be interesting to see if The Googan Squad starts using these reels. They all seem to have Favorite rods paired with high end Shimano baitcasters.

Yea, they are almost always have a Metanium or a  Curado DC on their sticks.

My Local Gander Mountain & Dicks are both loaded with Favorite rods.

I don't understand why there seems to be reason for people to want to like this brand.

Tackle Advisors on YouTube has shown them to be cookie cutter reels.

My opinion on them is if you want to buy a cheap reel that probably isn't going to last, and you can't get parts for you will get what you pay for. I see no reason for people to give them an extra chance.

I'm not referencing the OP, just sayin'

I like those handle knobs!

I won't comment on the rest of the reel.

I agree, but I feel the brand is ripping off kids who don't have much money to spend to begin with.

I would argue they've already accomplished half of what they set out to do. Regardless of any of our opinions... It has become a discussion here. Therefore their name is out there more.

Same as other cheap Chinese brand on US market right now. The difference is Favorite sponsor those youtubers and some boat tournament, so the name is out there first and of course they charge premium on it.

Even name brand these day, using third party (doyo- Korea) to make the reels in their name, just to start Daiwa, Abu Garcia, Lew, 13 fishing.

No idea how they fish, but they've got a lot of marketing going into them. We're talking about a company that is slapping MLB team logos onto their rods. LOL! But who am I to judge, they may be really good products.

It's obviously dumb but it's probably not any worse, performance wise, than any of the other cheap graphite reels on the market. If it helps get kids into fishing because they think the gear is cool, I don't have a problem with that. They will graduate into better gear as they get more experience and sense.

I highly doubt they would give up their curados for these lol

Always heard any publicity is good publicity.  While I certainly have no interest in anything they make...this thread shows they have peoples attention.  Just a shame that kids will spend their money on these rather than a daiwa fuego or shimano slx and be disappointed when it quits working after a few trips. Tis the times in which we live.

*I recently examined a Favorite rod at DSG for the first time and wasn't impressed for the price point - I could do better with several other rod brands at the same price .
