Super User Cgolf Posted May 19, 2019 Super User Posted May 19, 2019 Saw this bait on Instagram and curious what others think? Did they have to pay to use the Rage patent like Googan baits did or are the flappers different enough to work around the patent? Those questions aside it does look interesting with the slightly wider body than the Menace, kind of like a skinny stucture bug without the side flappers. Quote
punch Posted May 19, 2019 Posted May 19, 2019 I believe Steve Parks owns the patent on any "flanged" plastic, he designed the Rage baits. Lots of bait makers can use the flange, they just have to pay Steve Parks to use his design. Googan is doing this, and so do many others. Quote
Super User NorthernBasser Posted May 20, 2019 Super User Posted May 20, 2019 It's like the Rage Menace and Sweet Beaver had a baby. Quote

I fish the Menace on a slider head, could see that bait glide a bit more than the Menace. Depends on price and color selection for me. Never been a huge fan of that brand. As for the Rage patent, wonder if it applies to swimbait tails too? That may be a stretch though. He must do ok with that patent. Quote
